Lamar Jackson

Do you have the video he references where another person broke down the difference in the offense between Lamar and Huntley? I've been trying to preach that for weeks, but perhaps a video with visual evidence would do it for people.

ive not watched it to confirm but my guess is it was this video by coach evans:

but ive seen coach evans say elsewhere that one fundamental difference is the way they read the field right now... huntley reads low-to-high whereas lamar is asked to (and does) read hi-lo

That video loses me at conspiracy theory. I just don’t buy into that. #1, why would Roman care about Lamar’s contract? Why would any coach care about any players contract? That’s not their job. To say that would indicate that Decosta or higher up is instructing the coaches to do this. It’s just not plausible. Secondly, why does it not make sense to call different plays for a 4th year vet who has been outstanding for the most part, vs. a QB who started his first game in the NFL, or a career vet who hasn’t started a game in 2 or 3 years? As for the latter of course you’re going to want to play it safer and take the shorter, high percentage plays and let your playmakers do the rest. Verses taking allot of shots downfield and risk turnovers. If anything one could argue that they have opened Lamar’s playbook over time and are asking him to throw the ball downfield ALLOT more, at least this year. And then when your O line has become a turnstile the long passing game gets ugly quick. IDK, just my thoughts.

yes he doesnt actually say that those things are real - he actually gives a different reason for why he thinks the playcalling changes later in the video

basically what he's saying is that we never adjusted to the circumstances of our offensive line while Lamar was in the lineup (and while Ricard was healthy) and that we havent called enough short game for lamar earlier in the year

Lamar is not worth the $$$ he's not even worth 6 points. Don't matter who we have playing, starters or walk-ons...we'll more than likely lose by less than 7. So it's either two things...Harbaugh is just a complete idiot or he's point shaving.

really, just look at his record since entering the league. Too many Ravens fans have short memories. We went a couple years without winning a game by more than 8 points and then Lamar gets here and boom.

couldnt beat a playoff team that wasnt in our division

then along comes a rookie lamar and he beats the chargers and sends us to the playoffs for the first time in 5 years half-way through the season
then leads us to 14 wins against tricky competition including going an eventual 5-1 vs playoff teams as well as going 5-1 in the division too

and not only are we beating teams, we're smoking them

with joe there were lots of games where we thought we had a chance to stage an upset
with lamar there's very few games where we're the underdog in the firstplace because of his dominance

Really sucks we couldn't see him play the last few games of the season. He really had an awful stretch. Wondering if Roman would had changed the playcalling to help Lamar like he has with Huntley. Really a season of what ifs....
Lamar started the year with better mechanics and on pace to light it up, then reverted to throwing off his back foot and side arm throwing. Blame it on Roman, the trash oline, the no running backs, a combination of all.
I hope I am really wrong just don't have confidence he will be that guy that we want him to be as a passer.

I’m a firm believer that he regressed because of the awful offensive line performance, trying to play hero ball too much, and an elementary playbook. I’m fairly certain he’ll get back on track next season if we fix those issues

i mean we literally saw him be that guy as a passer before the bye

we've got a larger sample size of him being an amazing passer than we have of him in his slump... and before that stretch of great passing, he was still pretty damn good too

i think people forget that lamar started this season playing better than in his MVP season despite not having bateman, despite having an OL that constantly fell apart, despite constantly being down in games

That and lack of a running game. The loss of Dobbins and Gus hurt us dearly.
