I just really don't know how other conferences can really compete with the SEC, it was obvious when the rankings came out that it was a set up for a Bama-Georgia rematch. Just watching a little of what I saw from Cincinnati-Bama, the differences in the trenches was so notable. Cincinnati did hang in there for most of the game but it wasn't a big blowout like so many expected. Now you see Georgia up big on Michigan, I know with college it comes down to recruiting but everyone is going to choose a SEC school before any other conference.

JO getting beat by 3 td's is a blowout. Yes what was going on in the trenches decided the outcome of this game but lets also give alabama's defense some serious cred for this game. It's going to be a bigtime championship game that i believe will come down to the end of the game.

it's just funny that the michigan OL won the Joe Moore award but they're getting obliterated on the national stage and Georgia's dominating a possible 1st overall pick with their OL...

and im not sure there's an easy fix here outside of expanding the SEC, expanding the playoffs and understanding that 75% of the playoff teams should be from the SEC

NCAA better hope that Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson rebuild quickly and that Lincoln Riley can uplift USC (with some nifty recruiting in LA) and that Michigan can find a way to continue to improve - especially with oklahoma and texas joining the SEC too

in terms of competition though i think the only real fix is a massive restructure and creating a super conference with all the best teams and making them play each other and creating a tiered conference system where teams can be promoted/relegated

and that's obviously not going to happen

I like this idea and split into north, south, east and west with the champions automatically moving on. Plus expand it to 8 teams so you have 4 wildcards or even 10 if you'd like a couple byes. Something more to play for. Plus the BIG 10 name is stupid for obvious reasons.

Maybe it’s just me since the family has been busy, but anyone else really disinterested in this years bowl season? I can’t recall ever rolling into the CFP playoffs/ New Year’s Day bowls with so little excitement. I blame my 5 and 2 year olds , also a lame duck 4 team playoff. Would love to see 16 teams and less time for coaches to prepare.

i think for me it's a combination of 3 things

low competition level and no parity
no super-teams (like 2019 LSU or 2020 Bama)
no superstar QBs

normally bowl season has QBs that you want to watch even if they didnt make the playoffs but this year's QB crop is really poor
the best teams in the nation all have a loss and no one's got the team of destiny type hype around them (georgia's defence though is pretty incredible)
and it took until like 2 days ago to get an interesting bowl game in terms of on-field play with tennessee vs purdue - lots of poorly matched teams this bowl season

also interest isnt helped by all the opt-outs (and i fully support all these guys opting out of bowl games to prepare for the draft especially when they've had full seasons) but it does make it harder to be invested in some of these bowl games as an NFL fan who has no rooting interest and all the players i might be interested in arent playing either

Me personally with all the opt outs I am still enjoying the bowl season but yes the 1st few bowl games they had on were pretty boring. I did not watch one full game lol just snippets. We talk about opt outs and with this we should also include coaches swapping jobs and not coaching in their teams bowl games. It just makes me want to see them expand the playoffs big time and just incorporate the bowls into it.

amazing rose bowl game with bizarre time management at the end

utah ends the game with all 3 timeouts still in their pocket - and they should also have just let ohio state score so that they could get the ball back
ohio state called timeout with 12 seconds left on 2nd and 1 inside the 5 when they could have let it run down lower and ended the game at triple 0s but instead left a completely unnecessary 9 seconds left on the clock
utah has 9 seconds on the clock and their returner takes the whole 9 seconds up and doesnt even give them a chance at a final play

but this statline from a kid who's not even draft eligible is ridiculous lol

no reason he or will anderson should bother playing in 2022 in college - just opt-out and start training for the NFL straight away

Cooper Kupp vs. Ravens secondary type beat.

Matt Corrall injury tonight just makes the point again (if it even needed making)

none of these guys make any extra money by playing in bowl games
but they can certainly lose it

and if i'm honest - there are a number of sophomore guys (like Ja'Marr Chase or Micah Parsons or Rashawn Slater or Penei Sewell last year) who do not need to play their junior seasons... they're already guaranteed to be like a top 20 pick and dont need to risk the injuries especially if the situation isnt perfect

i mean i dont think any will opt-out the whole season like those guys did but i do wonder if we see more Rashod Bateman situations where the team is clearly rubbish and the team around you isnt doing you any favours (in Bateman's case the QB play was awful and he picked up some nagging injuries) and you opt out half way through the season

especially now that it's been shown that NFL teams really don't care that much if you miss games as long as you've got a good enough and big enough body of work and there's no red flags

But hey, Rossi, at least we know he loves football.

Yeah that ending made no sense. I think the Utes coach forgot about time outs. I've got no explanation for the OSU coach.
