Part of me feels bad for Mayock because he's paying the price for all of Gruden's picks... but I also don't feel bad because he was a bad hire to begin with.
he was brought in to be gruden's enabler and he did that
but also worth noting that while he's not done great on early picks (and maybe that's because gruden had some guys he wanted and he was the boss), he's found really top tier talent in the mid and later rounds which is where the scouting and talent evaluation is super important for teams separating themselves from each other...
maxx crosby, hunter renfrow, bryan edwards, john simpson, nate hobbs and then some other guys who've contributed like divine deablo, foster moreau
that's pretty good in 3 years to find all those guys outside the first 2 rounds... 5 starters and 2 of them are already high quality starters as well as some depth
