im so excited dude -

EDC already talked about the fact that he expects that at 45 we'll have a chance at a guy with a 1st round grade
Yeah. Seeing that really got me pumped up for tonight. I really wanted Davis and was shocked by the hollywood trade but I'm totally onboard with how it all played out. Needed to sleep on it though lol

i think i was holding onto hope for one of the elite high-value position guys to drop
and then hollywood has always been my dude
and then linderbaum was a surprise out of left-field for me

but...

we've just added 2 generational athletes at their positions (and i dont use that phrase lightly) and both are high quality processors and have the potential to be quickly among the best at their positions in the pros too - as much as i might have wanted to come out with a different outcome, i cant really complain

i think i'm always gonna worry about linderbaum until i see him deal with those long powerful NTs and DTs we're gonna face this year - the steelers, panthers will be the big challenges of him in 2022 i think

Thoughts on Metchie?

my notes:
  • 6’0 195lbs
  • Athletic all-round guy with decent frame but no elite athletic traits
  • Detailed route-runner who works well in the underneath parts of the field especially
  • Has hip fluidity and foot quickness help him be very good with his change of direction and especially with getting off press and breaking
  • Doesn’t have a diverse release package but is consistently effective vs press with his releases – his use of hesitations and and mixing of tempo in concert with good hand timing helps him get clear and upfield – occasionally just speed releases – his hands are his best tool vs jams where he has an array of moves but could be more consistently accurate
  • Attacks leverage with his stem – eats up cushion
  • Breaks with suddenness – can sometimes round out of his breaks on less sharp breaks and drift upfield – but generally his change of direction suddenness creates instant separation at the breakpoint – can stop on a dime – good timing and his break timing to break in the blind-spot or once the DB has opened their hips – really good selling vertical before his break
  • Reads zone coverage well to settle or find the window
  • Can sometimes struggle to play through sustained contact
  • Adjustments on deeper balls is frustrating and he doesn’t catch well outside his body especially low and behind – just doesn’t adjust well to balls outside his frame – had some concentration drops too – ball-tracking is generally pretty good and he’s a consistent hands-catcher but that doesn’t negate the worries about those other issues at the catch-point
  • Has suddenness but is an otherwise fairly 1-speed receiver who’s not a consistent threat vertically
  • Injured in the SEC championship game and unable to test
  • Could definitely contribute early as a slot or z-type of receiver – more of a complementary type – but dangerous and nuanced underneath and ultimately he separates but those catch-point issues are somewhat concerning

if the early 2nd round goes our way and we can double up and get 2 borderline 1st round talents then i say go for it
but if those corners and edges come off the board quick then i say just sit at 76 and wait for whoever falls (or maybe even move back again)

we're guaranteed a shot at at least 1 of these guys at 45:
CB Booth
CB Gordon
CB McCreary
EDGE Ebiketie
EDGE Paschal
EDGE Jackson
EDGE Mafe
LB Nakobe Dean
LB Christian Harris
WR Alec Pierce
WR Skyy Moore
NT Travis Jones
(EDGE Ojabo)

and if we see QBs or OTs or RBs go then it pushes more guys down to us

EDIT: how did i forget George Pickens and Jalen Pitre too (albeit Pitre at safety feels a little unlikely although at least unlike some of the others he was basically a full-time nickel)
prefer Chenal over Harris
