Since we missing on every WR in free agency and must resort to the Draft to force them to play for us…

Is it too early to start my Jackson2Jaxon campaign?

Calling it now, this player who feels way out of reach falls for some silly reason and become our first round pick in 2023

Not pissed about Landry. We knew this whole time he was going elsewhere. It was obvious. Sad to miss out on him.

SUPER pissed about the Edwards trade. That was peanuts and we really could have used him. I even brought this up weeks ago with him specifically. Like wtf. We should be able to make a trade like this to help the team
However, from the Raiders perspective, it would be foolish to trade him to the AFC, especially a potential playoff contender like the Ravens. Unless we made an offer that would be way better than they got, there was no way a trade was likely. Just my view.

Interesting to note that we have another pretty weak FA class coming up next year.

Obviously Lamar is the big one but we know he'll be here on an extension or the tag.

Beyond him:
Marcus Peters (the only other big one)
Sam Koch
Mike Davis
Ben Powers
Justice Hill
Jaylon Ferguson
Ja'Wuan James
Tony Jefferson
Josh Bynes
Josh Oliver
Isaiah Mack
Kevon Seymour

If you can get Lamar figured it out, that should enable us to make another Marcus Williams type of splash if we want. Could even do something this year and spread it into next year if there's a move to be made. Not really much to concern yourself with there comp pick wise.
I had mentioned same earlier.
Biggest issue is Lamar. If he wants to ride it out on the franchise tag, he'll effectively eat away at pretty much all of our available cap space for next year. It'll be hard to be able to make bigger "splashes" in FA without doing extensions and restructures.
That franchise tag will be well north of $30M next year.
He signs an extension this year or, preferably, next offseason, and it opens up a very large amount of possibilities for this FO. They could easily have $20M+ in FA, with room to make more.

Dumb question but, is that feasible for us? I mean franchising Lamar. Or do you we possibly think about trading him?

Financially, its feasible. I don't think the FO is anywhere near the position of thinking about moving on from him. I think that'll require a significant injury this year.
Franchise tag is an option, and they can afford it. It'll just really hamstring some things.
Basically if things don't go well on offense and Lamar starts griping about getting more receiver help, Oline, etc., and he wants to play on the tag, he'll be sharing a lot of the blame for when it doesn't happen.

There are some fairly straight forward cut candidates next year also.
I think Boyle is firmly on the chopping block after this season, especially with his injury history and very high cap hit.
Stanley would be a huge ? if he manages to not make it back this year. Becomes financially feasible to move on after this season
Campbell I would suspect would consider retirement, and he's on the books for nearly $9M cap hit next year, of which we could save a lot of that
Gus Edwards would be somebody we may not opt to keep if he can't recover from injury well
If somebody like Faalele impresses enough to somehow win the starting RT job, or even if the Ravens wish to go that direction, Morgan Moses may become expendable.
Wolfe and Clark also both would have the "look" of guys who may not be Ravens beyond this year.

If we were to move on from Boyle, Campbell, Wolfe and Clark alone, which I think all would be likely at this point, you're talking like $22M in cap savings right there.

And that would largely be almost all spendable. But if you can manage to get Lamar on a cap hit in the range of like $20-25M, then your FA period can be very lucrative. There's quite literally nobody you couldn't sign.

Awesome. Thank you for this

We’re not trading him - you ride this out to its end with Lamar - you err on the side of keeping him too long vs letting him go early - and you definitely can’t trade him away even if it doesn’t work out and looks like a bad decision in hindsight

Got to see this through, whatever it takes - can’t be left with what ifs when it comes to Lamar

Exactly this. When you get a once in a lifetime qb, you ride it til the wheels fall off

Its just sad seeing teams around the league take advantage of their franchise QB on rookie deals by surrounding him with weapons.

Meanwhile, Lamar had dudes like Seth Roberts, Retired Dez, Willie Snead, etc. I get this is Baltimore and we all love Defenses.. but damn… the front office didn’t do Lamar any favors at all

Because other teams were in the cellar when they began building their teams, we had an overpaid and underperforming qb on the late years of a crazy backloaded contract, and a bunch of band aid players on bad contracts as well.

Lol yeah I know. Ozzie left us with an amazing 2018 draft class, but he hella left us with salary baggage on his way out as well haha

From the draft they invested 2 first round Wars and 1 TE as well as a 2nd round RB.

One of those 1st round WRs is gone lol. We need to replace him with someone that’s at least serviceable for Lamar
