Nobody in the NFL has done more with less, than Lamar Jackson. He just doesn't get the help and weapons he needs like other QBs seem to get. Too much has been invested in a tepid and impotent defense.

So what you are saying is that nothing has changed since the days of Flacco and just like Flacco, Lamar watches every other QB get big time receivers while somehow managing to do more with less? I feel like with Bateman, Lamar may finally have the guy he has the WR he can grow with but yeah we failed at taking advantage of his rookie contract. Now we have to pay him while every other team in the AFC got better.

Here's a thought that I'm curious about-

How do you all feel about notable former Ravens?

I ask because Patriots fans are the most rabid and ardent defenders of TB Tom Brady; even moreso than Bucs fans.

Are there any players you'd go to war for no matter where they went?

For me, I'm of the mindset that I'm a Ravens fan and if you're not on the Ravens, I won't root for you. If you do well, great. If you do poorly, that's unfortunate.

When Joe left, I was insanely grateful for the Super Bowl, but he was no longer a Raven. I didn't care how he did. Same for Suggs, Reed, Torrey, etc. and many other players I absolutely loved when they were Ravens.

I agree that Bateman is the real deal, but he has just sprouted wings like our other receivers. I'd rather have a game breaker like Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, or even the Brown we didn't think to draft - AJ Brown, to go along with our 3 talented wideouts. Why are we so focused on just spending on defense? We saw that a potent offense can destroy an expensive probowl defense. Like other teams, spend the money on offense and give Lamar more help. That'll allow us to at least outscore the opposition, thereby resulting in a W. I remember Steve Bisciotti saying in an interview that they have to field a great defense no matter what, because that was our identity. What happened? That identity was sexually 'Watsoned' by Hill and Waddle.

This will surely ruffle feathers from certain members, but I don't think Joe was worth building around the way Lamar is.

With Joe, no matter who the Ravens rotated, he more or less produced the same and gave the same results week in and week out. He'd have the rare January Joe performance in the regular season, but he was mostly just good, but not transcendent.

Now Lamar- I truly do think he's worth building around. I think he's shown to be a good passer, and has made significant strides, and is obviously an elite runner. Lamar has already shown he can produce incredible results with a little build around (2019).

I'd like to see the Ravens trim the defensive fat and do more for Lamar if the defense is gonna keep being ass (and to be clear, they've been downright terrible for 2021 to now.)

i still feel a connection for them - not enough to root for them over the ravens lol... but certainly i enjoy it when guys who i feel like exemplified themselves as "ravens" play well in other places... and especially when they beat a division rival

I will root for them when it's advantageous for the Ravens (thank you, Joe), but like when Hayden Hurst was a Falcon? I know a lot of fans were adamant that this was his chance to shine and really closely followed him and to me it was whatever.

I would probably feel some sort of way if Jimmy moved onto a different team, but I haven't had that super special player change teams, yet.

For me it depends on the player and even moreso what team they went to. I'm rooting for Hollywood because of how he left and I was a big fan of his entering the draft. Also like, for the most part, how he handled himself on the team and with Lamar. You could say the same about Torrey. Every player is different though and there isn't one rule set in stone for me. Good question though.

Now if any of those players went to anyone else in the AFCN, you can forget it, I'm not rooting for you and I never root for anyone who goes to the Patriots or the NFCE either.

Definitely depends on the player. Torrey was such a great guy that did,and i believe still does, a lot for the local Baltimore community. I’ll pull for Joe , but honestly it’s tough, I was so ready for him to leave and breathe some excitement into the position. I also loved Bart Scott, even with the jets, great memories with all his trash talking , crushing Big ben, and chucking the penalty flag into the stands Vs the patriots.

Yea i didnt care for any of those guys when they left.. wanted suggs to get more sacks though so he could be a first ballot.. if lamar left, he would be only guy id likely root for, not even as a player but just as a person... i wouldnt ever wear no other team jersey though.

Never really cared. There’s always the “yikes, that’s an odd sight” reaction when you see them on the field, but that’s about it. Ed Reed, Derrick Mason, and sizzle I HATED seeing leave, like they all could’ve totally retired a raven and that woulda been great, but they all had to just rob a team real quick before they hung em up. Suggs did win a 2nd ring though and I’m happy af for him there, he deserved at least 1 more in Baltimore but lee evans thought otherwise

I wonder when the last time the AFC North was swept. Also kinda funny the QBs that did it were Tua, Mac Jones, Joe Flacco, and Cooper Rush.

I have some other teams jerseys but they are skins jerseys and I have over 30 years of history with that team. They are ready for the bonfire though. Cooley, Art Monk and Kerrigan were class acts though. Now the only jersey I would consider still wearing is my Kenny Stabler jersey. Damn shame he had to pass away to get into the HOF.

Mason in a Texans jersey was so strange

and now that Hurst is a Bengal I want him to fail miserably.

if we can find a running game and if we can get better play from the defence, we're an upper echelon AFC power team - we've got to find some solutions to the running game and get healthy on defence but not many teams are going to be able to compete with us with the passing game working the way it is
Running game - return of Dobbins + Gus and hope for a semblance of a 2020 running game.

Getting healthy on defense? A mystery the world may never figure out.

Yeah, let's stay away from using such vulgar language. Thanks.

Hayden hurst is a good example of someone I’m not rooting for as a former “raven” because he was barely here...

Although hurst I’m always gonna want to see succeed because of some of the stuff he’s overcome - just really wish he wasn’t succeeding on the bengals
