Next Up: vs Browns

Could some of that be attributed to the piss poor surrounding cast he has to play with, which in turn often translates into "hero ball"?
Nope. Hero Ball is a function of Lamar not executing what he gets paid a gigantic sum of money to execute. Just do your job. When other people don't do their jobs, it'll be glaringly obvious to everybody else. When Lamar doesn't execute some of the fundamentals he's responsible for, that, too, is glaringly obvious to everybody else.

Some of the things I blamed him for on Sunday would have no rational reason whatsoever to fall under the category of "hero ball". These are first quarter plays, in a close game, where simply doing your job executes exactly what you want it to do.

And in the typical "chicken and the egg" scenario, perhaps if everybody, including Lamar, simply executed some of their fundamental tasks earlier in the game, there's no need for "hero ball". "Hero Ball" is a product of not executing prior to those events.

yah i dont get it either

like lamar was bad this week

doesnt mean that missing bateman and now maybe andrews and dobbins too isnt a big deal...

as much as id love lamar to be perfect each week (and some weeks he has been), he shouldnt have to be perfect for this offence to function and put up points
Thank you!!! Its just not that complicated

I highly overestimated how good Dobbins would be this year. He was great in the Bengals game tho, I’m so mad the NY field hurt him
I don’t think you overestimated, dobbins has been THAT good… when given opportunities. The staff hasn’t been too keen on that so far though, and it’s been for good reason considering his knees already acting up

I suspect they will rest him against Cleveland . Don't you think?

Jeff's mentions are virtually all injury related and he seems to be of the opinion that Andrews in particular is probably good to go Sunday and there's some extra precaution being taken for some guys since we're heading into a short week next week. Would imagine Peters and maybe Ricard are in the same boat.

Ricard, Andrews and Peters all back at practice Friday, so they should be fine for Sunday. Stanley and JPP were absent but seems they're getting Friday's off, so they should be fine as well. Bateman and Hill should be back.

Dobbins didn't practice so likely he's out. Would imagine we'll get Edwards back, so maybe not a huge loss.

Houston didn't practice but he was LP in his first two days, so hard to tell what his status will be. He seems like the truly "questionable" one of the group.

Overall getting healthier it seems.

Yeah this all seems like good news as of now. Expected Dobbins to be out once you saw the video so no real surprise there. As you said, Houston is probably the biggest question mark just because he's been out for a bit prior to this week.

Definitely curious to see what adjustments we make to the roster. Edwards is probably due back this week. Bowser could be based on their feelings on Houston's availability. Otherwise, another roster move will be needed at OLB and that leaves Kennard likely to be elevated, who just signed this week.

Think Bowser is maybe another week or two away. Think they may hold some of these guys with the short-week coming up on Thursday.

I would agree with that. Feels like Edwards has the best shot to be activated by Sunday. Bowser makes more sense for Thursday if he's coming because then he gets a longer layoff while theoretically not eating into practice time. But they could still wait beyond that.

For all the snap count caution we had with Dobbins, why play him at all in MetLife.

i mean i get it
but you cant just not play guys out of fear if they're medically cleared

but it's a bad sign when calais said before the game that they just go into the game hoping they get lucky on that surface... there's absolutely no way that turf should still be there next year

I still can’t believe this about Dobbins, I was so excited when we drafted him, he was going to be so good. Is there any chance he comes back this year, realistically? I’m surprised they think only 4-6 weeks
