The 2023 Offseason Thread

Don't like this qb class in general and know there's no way this team tanks next year. We might hit peak mediocrity the next few years if the FO messes this up.

The concept of trading Lamar for unproven talent doesn't sit well. We've won too many games with him playing under center to simply think that a boat load of picks and a rookie QB will get us far.

I think overall, what is best for the Ravens is to keep the guy who's won a ton of games in spite of all the injuries throughout the years to both the team and himself. Protect him better by getting him some help (I think this OC can do just that)

Obviously if he is asking for 280 guaranteed then we won't do it. It would be alot easier if we actually knew the numbers he was working with because everything up to this point was been a shot in the dark

I agree. I want to keep Lamar, even if my actions in Forum Mock don't say so. He is a good player, but I think the deal we give him should be along the lines of 4 years, 180 million, but fully guaranteed.

I'm pretty sure you're on the don't give him the Watson deal side... you realize that's basically only 5 mil off and just 1 year shorter?

Yes, but I don't believe that he'll sign if it isn't fully guaranteed, so maybe the ravens can benefit off of that and decrease his hits a little. It's 20m off what Lamar wants, but I'm also completely fine with a 4 year 160m deal. That's where I would start if I was DeCosta

I think we offered him a fair deal… he likely just wants more or more gtd. I hate these stages cause when he does get signed, its still not gonna be a definite answer from fans nor sports media.. right now everyone says pat signed a team friendly deal even though he has the largest cap hit to ever win a bowl, but soon as or if the team stop winning, people gonna blame mahommes contract.

Mahomes' deal may be good for the chiefs now, but it wasn't when he signed it.

I am not crazy about Stroud to be honest.

I’m no film guy , but I like him alot more than Young. Its seems pundits are split on who’s first between Stroud and Young. I know nothing about Levis other than watching him play Florida.

I can say without a doubt that I don’t like Richardson. Got to watch the majority of his games down here in Florida and was not impressed. We def lack some skill players at FL but Richardson was all over that place. He is perfect for the college game but has no change at the pro level IMO

I think cooks already said he wasnt gonna stay for a rebuild so he is likely gone.. if we were to trade for cooks, we could possibly get HOU to take some of his cap?
Well they'll absorb cap impact anyway, but getting the Texans to eat some of his salary usually requires more comp (similar to what happened with Roquan). So we would maybe need to throw in a draft pick to sweeten it for that to happen.

Really don't think it would be necessary though. While Cooks 2023 salary of $18M is fully gtd, he's got 2 years and $31M left on his deal, which we would absorb. They could easily just add like a year or two extension to that, probably gtd two years of it, and lower the cap hit, while he makes the same (or even more) $.

Because it was much higher for the market
In terms of what? In AAV, sure, but nobody gives a shit about that. It's basically a 3-4 year deal with rolling options that the Chiefs can decline at any time they choose (which of course, they won't).
And it was a ten year deal, which is horrendous for the player, and fantastic for the team. If he started to suck, they can move of of him in the back half. If he's great, he's playing for a discount until later in the deal.

Yeah. 10 years is really stupid for Mahomes. Mahomes felt it was team-unfriendly, most likely, but the Chiefs prob just manipulated them. If the Ravens could do that to Lamar (I don't want him for 10 years, especially if it's all guarantees), I would be overjoyed.

mahomes deal was very team friendly. I'm sure it will be redone soon

Would honestly like to see Dubb in the WRs coach position. What's his official title right now?

On a larger point, I think Josina said we're looking to make a comprehensive change on the offensive coaching staff.

What other moves might we make and does Monken have some guys he'd like to bring?

Lol if he gets the job and does well there will be a contingent of Ravens fans that lose their mind. So folks were obsessed with him being our new OC.

Would the Ravens have any interest in Jaylin Hyatt if they had/trade for a second round pick/move out of the first? They could see him as a Hollywood type receiver

If the Chargers don't take him, sure. I personally am very high on Rashee Rice, so I think I would prefer him
