lol, no, actually I was being generous with 80%. Miles Sanders was a 2nd round pick who made $1.2M last year. He had 82% of the rushing yards of Derrick Henry, who made $14.5M last year. And Sanders was more efficient doing so and would have easily had more than Henry if he got the ball as much as Henry.
I think McCaffrey got as much as he did (which was a massive overpay by the 49ers by the way) because he's one of the best pass catching RBs of all time. Nobodies paying him to run the ball. He's also the prime example, because the Panthers won very little with him, and that's after paying him a lot too.
I don't really give a shit if they're in the HOF or not. Means nothing. Adrian Peterson is going to the HOF... what did the Vikings ever win making him a foundation of their offense? I'm not interested in HOF RBs. There's going to be about one every 10 years that makes it in the HOF going forward, if that.
You check the top individual rushing leaders by season for the last few years. Bet you won't find a lot of "winning" from those teams. Not to mention they won't even correlate to the best rushing TEAMS in the league, which is what the priority for fans should be.
