Lamar Jackson

Sign-and-trades don't work in the NFL or only if there's little to no signing bonus. Because no matter when you trade him the original team has to account for the full signing bonus and be left with dead cap.
Most other qbs have at least signing bonuses of 15-20m. In our case this would only result in savings of 10m instead of 32.
Say what? Why would we be responsible for a signing bonus if we got Lamar to sign the tag and then traded him to a need which then signed him long term?

One thing to note, as a lot of the business "insiders" have said since he posted this, is that players (mostly through agents) request trades all the time, and a lot of times, they don't get traded. In fact they sign extensions.

So its possible he legitimately wants out (which he probably does), but also possible he's doing what every other agent would do, which is to use it as leverage to get other teams interested and/or to drive up the offer from the Ravens.

Bye! He plays in another uniform he's the enemy. I had no animosity towards him when this all started but the way this has played out now I just want him gone now and definitely building dislike for him. Anyways let's rebuild and John can leave with him.

Well at least everybody knows what's what now. No more hiding it.

Have to think getting the trade done before the draft is critical. Also somewhat surprised that the Ravens haven't "opened up more" in FA, as everything they've done has indicated they're committed to keeping him. And they had this info before FA began.

So based on that, I'd suspect the Ravens aren't entirely closing the door on this.

Idk he probably could have played in that playoff team then mocked the team after they lost

Tons of reports and slander against him. He probably feels disrespected and is tired of people playing with his money. Hurt my money, I'll make it easier to trade me. Seems pretty simple to me and most the fans were turning on him anyway. I guarantee if he's shipped off the new team's fanbase won't care about this.

Pretty much.
Though I think he's punted basically all remaining leverage he has by doing this. If he truly wants out, so be it. But now everybody knows what's what, and the Ravens can just sit back and wait for the max offer. Doesn't even have to be this year either. I think they'd like it to be sooner rather than later, but its not like they're going to trade him for a 3rd rounder.

AND, particularly worrisome for Lamar, is not only does he have to broker a trade, without an agent mind you, but it will have likely significant limitations put on it by the Ravens (i.e. who they'll talk to and who they won't) AND he's gotta broker a long term deal with that team first, because nobody is trading for him unless they can get him to sign long term.

Yup. This was basically his trump card. Again, if this somehow works out and he stays, cool. Not going to lie, but somewhat curious to see how this team would build an offense around a new guy as well. I don't care which way it goes, I just want it over before the draft.

You really think it would be smart to have him play here on the tag wtih all this?

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on him but like most fans I'm just tired of it. Atleast now it's confirmed what many of us believed that he just doesn't want to be here. Honestly, I don't even think it's all about the $ either like I said several times he's holding to thay guaranteed money just to force a trade knowing the Ravens will not give it to him. Damn the culture of this organization has gone to poop what good players will seriously want to come here. I have more anger towards Harbs because I believe it starts with him but that's another topic.
