The good, the Bad, and the Detroit Rock City: Week 13 Edition

oooh - this probably qualifies as great:
ravens in 12 games now have 29 turnovers which puts us at almost 2.5 turnovers per game after another 3 turnovers in this game

We eclipsed last year’s int totals with 4 games left. Crazy...and to think we were tied for 1st in ints last year.

I can't believe we were able to turn it around on defense. After losing jimmy and giving up all those yards, I thought we were doomed to lose and then boom, Suggs must have said some good shit on the sideline because it made a difference.

I just hope Marlon builds on the pick rather than continue his shit play getting beat deep.

Antonio brown without jimmy worries me a lot

hopefully it helps that he'll get a full week of practice and he'll have the week of practice with full knowledge that he's the starter - hopefully they can focus on his deep ball location because marlon had good coverage on both deep completions i can remember off the top of my head he just couldnt find the ball

I mean to be fair we didnt turn it around too much on defense. After Suggs speech the plays were essentially a good sack by Suggs a bad throw by Stafford which knocked him out of the game and caused an INT then we faced a backup QB.

And AJ Green

but its bigger than that
it was a sack by suggs
and then a bad throw by stafford forced by willie henry and finished with nice awareness by humphrey - it wasnt even like stafford through a bad throw freebie for the defence it was a forced mistake - the defence 100% turned it around

I mean yes the Ravens got some pressure once the backup OLine for Detroit had to play and Humphrey made a good read on that ball but that throw was horrible and didnt tell me if the Ravens secondary can play without Jimmy for an entire game considering we only saw Detroit effortlessly drive down the field twice and then have the only other big drive stalled by the front 7.

that may be true that we dont know what the secondary is gonna look like but its disingenuous to say we didnt turn it around on defence after suggs talk because we turned them over twice and got pressure

of course we dont know what this defence is gonna look like without jimmy yet but i think its unfair to say they didnt obviously improve

Good
1)Joe had his head in the game...the entire game...why is this a rarity? He was generally accurate, threw with confidence and made good decisions
2) Woodhead great picking up the rush on third down....needs to be more involved as pass catcher
3) Chuck Clark looks like a great sixth round pick if only for special teams but is proving to be more than that
4) Canary will knock your block off
Bad
1) Interior offensive line continues to struggle picking up pressures...Jensen whiffing regularly..not sure who is to blame but there are communication problems G,C,G
2) receivers not doing our quarterback any favors
3) Humphrey had better grow up in a hurry....he looked bad...every bit the rookie.....needs to see what he's hitting in run defense...needed help desperately over the top...against Marvin Jones.....did not rebound...that ball was an obvious pick the second it left Staffords hand.
Hoping he holds up better going forward.
Sorry for Jimmy but he cannot be counted on to stay healthy going forward in his career...obviously

To me 2 plays is not turning it around. Suggs did lead the way, but the thing that was causing the Ravens defense look bad was the secondary and they did not turn it around, the front 7 just got pressure 2 plays in a row (and the second really should have just been a throwaway).

they got 2 plays in critical situations having been rinsed on consecutive drives and they completely took the momentum away from the lions and then they sealed it against the backup qb - they did everything that we could have possibly wanted from them after that speech

Let's be honest, this was a statement victory and a huge game from the whole team.

Next week will be extremely difficult but if the offense shows this wasn't a fluke and the defense figures out how to stay dominant without Jimmy we're going to win a lot of games

im not gonna get ahead of myself because the lions defence is not a good unit but if this offence has even turned the corner a little bit towards mediocrity let alone just being ok/good then we are gonna be the wildcard team that no one wants to come into their building

Given who we play next week, I hope this offense continues playing the way it did because our defense is gonna get tore up by the "killer b's." VERY disappointed in the WRs for dropping should've-been catches.

As for the defense, I expect it to fall apart in the next few weeks. Jimmy means THAT much to our secondary. I understand our depth has "improved," but I get this feeling that this will be deja vu from last season. That being said, Canady played so well that he can turn into a canary lol. As for Chuck Clark, I'm not sleeping on him to have a bigger role next season.
