The Bad, the Ugly, and the Ravens: Week 17 Edition

No, it is that with all their riches, these guys cant come up with a better way to protest. It is the easy way and it is disgraceful.

so basically "stand your black ass up for my country boy"... its so obvious when you hear these people rant and rave, mass majority of them have one major issue, the fact that rich black athletes are using a platform to speak out on injustices.
I don't know about all that ... I'm just saying I think many do not like the movement period. They hear BLM and the first image that comes to mind is the city being set on fire. They see a city racked with deadly violence - which has escalated dramatically since the riots.

All I'm saying is it is easier to use the guise of anti patriotic actions than to express opposition to the movement behind it ...

I'm not expressing my point of view just explaining what I perceive on my knowing many who spared themselves today's football nightmare by boycotting the season (which I clearly did not do)

that whole paragraph said you love freedom and free speech but they cant exercise free speech because that makes them spoiled babies.

Just because you have the right to do something doesn't justify doing it. If I get pulled over for speeding I could rip the officer to shreds and cuss him out but it doesn't make it right and I use the term "spoiled babies" because so many people use freedom of speech to their own advantage just because "they can". Sure you can kneel during the anthem to support police brutality or whatever your cause may be, but you are contradicting yourself in a big way. Kneeling to bring awareness to something but also kneeling while everyone else stands and salutes as to softly oppose them... Don't worry guys I still love and support the troops and the country and all, but I'm just excercising my freedom of speech and I'm not going to stand/support it because I don't accept that there are innocent people getting killed by cops, and our president is horrible etc. Essentially the players are saying I don't accept the country we live in, and more so than that it was these players acting out because Trump made them as triggered as anyone has ever been in history by simply stating if he were an NFL owner and saw a player do that he would get that SOB fired and he had the right to say that and as an owner he would surely have the right to cut them for The vast majority of pro sports players seemingly everyone hates Trump and it seemed moreso like players flipping Trump the bird than promoting anything, like saying "we can kneel if we want to you just watch us" something a spoiled baby would do.

It's all a mess and look at the bad it promoted versus the good....much more negativity came about than positivity, and ultimately I think everyone is glad its over with.

Are you playing the Forum mock this year
Actually I've never played it. Have to say I have limited knowledge of the draft talent but love to listen to those more knowledgeable debate on the boards. I learn a lot about the draft prospects from them.

You should play it, it’s a lot of fun. One player would trade his picks for players. The Forum mock as a free agency component to it as well. It’s a lot of fun, each member ends up drafting a team they want to represent.

do you suppose they go rant and rave and burn down cities and block traffic? should they stop donating millions and putting in work in their communities? what do you suggest? this is a question that has yet to be answered.

Well I wouldn't be too thrilled with being called a son of a bitch by the president and having him say I shouldn't have a right to free speech just because he disagrees with my methods, and I'm sure you wouldn't be thrilled either

Bad and ugly- The way both Ravens play callers got conservative and scared at the end, as they always do.

Running it on the penultimate drive was right but after Collins got stuffed on first down, second was the time to throw it. We'd had success passing all half but we don't have the QB or receivers for obvious passing downs. Marty must go.

We were getting no pressure the whole of Cincinnatti's last drive but Pees sat back giving Dalton all day to throw and hoping our secondary could just keep covering . He was too scared to mix in a little pressure when it counted, yet again. I've seen that too many times from Pees in big games. If he doesn't retire he needs to be sacked or we'll lose games the same way forever.

Two years in a row to lose it at the very end when we only needed one stop, really hurts. What can you do, life goes on I guess, but not how I was looking forward to ring in the new year.

This will be my last post about this stuff that is related to the week 17 loss to Cincy/ Ravens/2017 NFL season. But you talk about the movement behind BLM and what most of these NFL players knelt for and I absolutely get it. In fact I'm all in on 'all lives matter'. I was reading a couple weeks ago about the Arizona shooting in the hotel of the unarmed father that made natl news and the cops got off innocent even with a first person video of the officers horribly murdering this poor unarmed man and making him sob and beg for his life all bc they thought he had a rifle in his hotel room. I'm aware of tens of nearly hundreds of horrible racial profiling situations that have ended in deaths by cops and it's all 100% awful.

Ive lived on YouTube and the internet researching tons of police brutality stuff over the years it's real, it's racist and it's wrong. But for as many of these horrible cases, multiply it by 2 or 3 and you will have the amount of times an innocent cop with a loving family has been murdered by a thug in a terrible scenario. It goes both ways 100% and that's why I said in my OG post it really is a 50-50 situation, both the patriotic/moral side of it as well as the freedom/movement side of it.

Sure these players can protest, use their status and platform to raise awareness, but how much awareness is truly raised? How much change is really the result of these players kneeling and excercising their freedoms? It looks to have brought more negative than positive to the world with those taking the patriotic/disrespect factor to the bank by boycotting NFL both on TV and at the stadium. And it clearly effected our fellow Ravens fans , why else would our stadium be this damn empty? I point my finger at those who knelt during the protests, they could have locked arms representing unity in each other and our community in support of the BLM movement and everything else like the majority of our team did, instead they wanted to take a knee, and the rest is history along with our terrible 2017 season.

The United States is a dark, violent and corrupt place, but it's home, and most of us live pretty damn comfortably and if we don't we bust our asses to try and get there. This stuff that draws cause for protest is truly horrible, I understand that even a tiny bit of awareness can promote change. But I just question whether these NFL players truly brought any sort of change and rather seemingly brought more negativity.

What's your whole point of bringing up and harping on this topic and issue in a thread about the Ravens and Week 17?

ill take responsibility. he brought up the kneeling issue being a factor as to why fans didnt show up, i furthered it pretty rapidly....

i also wanna state that if the NFL hadnt flexed our game with only a weeks notice and shit on everyones NYE plans, then the stadium wouldve probably been close to full, and the bitter cold didnt help either. it was a perfect storm to have a barren stadium

Did you see my OG post? I replied to someone's post in regards to the empty seats in today's game and how embarrassing it was.

I replied and agreed and said that IMO I blame the Ravens players kneeling during the London game for the historically low attendance at our once beloved home turf. I meant it to be simplified but then someone replied to it with a very long political post and we ended up going back and fourth for a while. It does in fact relate to this week's game and is pretty much the sum of the 2017 NFL season.

From now on, I’m going to lay off Joe. The guy in the end always puts us in a position to win games but when it matters most, the common theme is that the defense will always be there to let us down. It’s at the point where no matter how bad Joe is next year and how great the defense is, the defense is going to just let us down. I’m just really over it and at this point I can just expect them to fail us miserably when we need them to make a play for us.

Yeah, I do think the offence needs an almost complete overhaul but when you've got them on 4th and 12 with your season on the line there's no excuse to come up short.

If it keeps happening under our new DC (whoever that may be) I'm not sure what to say. Maybe we banned some goat-owning PSL holder or something.

I’d say losing to the Pats in 2014 was worse, but other than that, this hurt a lot.

In a way it was worse because there was more on the line (super bowl), but just the fact that the general consensus seems to be that we never belonged in the conversation for playoffs bothers me.

I think that the team gave a lot and I feel like asshole fanbase teams like the pats and steelers caught a huge break with the Bills and Titans getting in over the Ravens.

Good: Not much , maybe Collins reverse Td .
Bad: Rush Defense , Reciever drops , Flacco underthrows , pass rush
Ugly: Coaching , team not ready to play what was a playoff game for us.
The staff should be fired completely .
How does a defense on a sub zero game allow 31 points ? See ya Pees !

its gotten humorous now. we are so in need of a change, but our owner is the proverbial blockhead.

Honestly, the fact that Moore kept it up in the air from bobbling for as long as he did was the bigger issue to me.
the real problem was the ball was underthrown and moore tried to play it as a ball that could go for a td. he needed to stop and corral it.

cant blame ravens players for empty seats. Blame the fans for their empty minds
