Agree with Maclin, Howard. Don’t think any players on rookie deals should be cut at this point. Add Webb, McClellan, maybe Carr. Would be better if we can get a reduction in salary for Carr and keep him, but I doubt it.

Gorgot about Webb and McClellan. How much saved?? I get what you are saying about rookie deals. But if the players shown he hasn’t got it then even a million saved is help towards signing young hungry players. Building blocks over the next 4 years. I know this is gonna be unpopular but we should consider trading Mosley. He saves $9mil against the cap. And any player given $50-$60million should be impact players, game changers. Ravens have the opportunity to free up $30-$40million cap space. Maybe sign Quinn Marqise and Burton. Young players that have opportunity to be game changer studs.

If Perriman can play like he did in yr 2 it would be better than a 4th or 5th received and Kaufusi was injured his rookie yr. he’s depth and will remain depth. I wouldn’t have a problem cutting him if we had someone that was performing better and he was taking the roster spot of someone.

Mosely was playing injured this yr and still performed pretty well and had 4 turnovers. He had a very good yr the previous year and he’s an all pro. He’s being extended.

Now onto your question about how much money is saves.
1. If you cut Brandin Williams, which you mentioned in your initial post it would cost the team 9m, due to dead cap.
2. Webb - saves 1.75m
3. McLellan - 1.25m
4. Maclin - 5m
5. Howard - 3m
6. Carr - 4m. (Not sure we should do this - wonder if he would take a pay cut to stay here. He likes being a raven.

7. Weddle - convert salary to bonus to make it guaranteed money and extend him 1 yr to 2020. we would still cut him in a yr, but it would be easier to get out of the contract due to amount of cap space we have in two yrs. We need the space now.

Not usually a good idea to trade young ascending players in their prime to take risks and pay other guys. Also, looks bad on the FA to do that after using a lot of draft stock recently to upgrade that position. You don't sign Quinn unless you KNOW Bowser and Williams are busts. Wouldn't mind Marquise but think he'll demand a higher contract than people anticipate. I'd like to get Richardson, but a move has to made for one of the younger FA wrs.

Kaufusi and Perriman are losers. Fine we can’t cut Williams. Pay Mosley game changer money and that’s over $20million per going to a 2 slightly above average players. Then what is it $25mil to a QB that needs playmakers??thats a big chunk of the cap and no playmakers yet. Ravens should be in the Super Bowl next year like that. All the tape watching that goes on around here and anybody can actually think Mosley deserves his pro bowl invitation?? He sucks in coverage and is not ascending. Many of his tackles are after first downs. And splash plays are non existent yet he is free to roam behind tackles that don’t make plays but are paid to keep him clean. If the new coordinator is gonna be more aggressive then Carr is finished. He is ok when he is part of double coverage.

Timmy could become an ultra dynamic edge rusher in my opinion. But Bowser I don’t think is gonna be a consistent edge rusher in the NFL. Weddle is slowing fast and could be a huge liability. I know cutting players you come to love and have hope for sucks. But seriously Perriman and Kufusi totally suck as does Correa. I liked the Mosley pick. I was all for it. Then wanted Telvin Smith to tandem with him. As I believe tough linebackers that cover like safety’s are as valuable as elite edge rushers. But facts are every draft there are more linebackers after round1 coming out that are as good and or outplaying Mosley. Beginning with Telvin Smith, Kwon Alexander, Myles Jack, Jaylen Smith and Deion Jones. And that is b4 we even discuss the actual elite linebackers!! With more coming out this year. And linebackers are getting faster and better in coverage every year with more coming out this year. Mosley can be replaced for a fraction of his cost. The idea is Quinn and Tim restore the ravens rush. A tandem of edge bending speed rushers that can even destroy a QBs 3 step dropback!!

I don’t think that we can cut Carr. I get why people keep bringing up his name but I don’t see why we would cut him when we have the following question marks of uncertainty at CB:

Jimmy Smith: coming off a late season Achilles and unlikely to be ready week 1 and may never be fully recovered for this season
Tavon Young: talented player who missed his entire second season due to a training camp injury also coming off an injury
Maurice Canady: good but not yet great player with an injury history
Jaylon Hill: preseason sensation never lived up to it in the regular season but also coming off his own late season injury in a torn ACL and may not be ever fully recovered this year
Marlon Humphrey: just arrested on robbery and may or may not face suspension

That’s a lot of questions marks at CB. I get that we can save some money by cutting Carr and I’d be all for it if Smith and Hill hadn’t gotten injured and especially if Humphrey didn’t screw up and if Alabama wasn’t Alabama. Would those of you who want to cut Carr or who think Carr is an easy decision to cut rather we keep Webb or have no healthy guys at CB? If we cut Carr we’re hoping Smith has a miraculous recovery and Young doesn’t lose a step and Hill is somehow back fast as well. Oh and that Humphrey isn’t suspended.

Howard, Webb, Maclin, McClellan are guys I’d rather cut, perhaps even Levine because of Chuck Clark—not Carr, though. I wish we could but we don’t have the flexibility

the other important point is that cutting carr only saves $4 mill - which means we'd need to find a similar or better level of play at that position for $4 mill and im not sure we can

Tavon will be more than a year fully recovered from his ACL when the regular season rolls around and Marlon Humphrey will likely not be suspended or anything in spite of what a few people on here think. Carr is expendable as all hell, especially since I think there is a chance that we take a corner at some point in the draft on the cheap. We've hit the last three we've taken so who knows.

Point is. Do we want the OP secondary we've all been claimoring for or do we want to... Idk.. FIX THE FUCKING OFFENSE. I'm willing to sacrifice a piece of secondary depth if it means we can go get another WR or something. Opening up cap room is a possibility but is going to be absurdly difficult. We'd need to get three players to take either pay cuts or extend them entirely(I can see three candidates, CJ Mosley, Weddle, and Jimmy Smith). Cut, Maclin, Mcllelen, Howard, Webb, Levine. STILL not enough room to go get a top notch WR, keep Jensen, and draft class in all likelihood.

Are you saying pay Mosley 20 million per year??

Jets to try and sign Jensen via ESPN Rich Cimini. Yea Ginger is gone

Our oline is in a really bad way if he leaves

No I’m saying trade him if he wants elite defensive player money. I would pay Jensen $10mil per b4 paying Mosley elite linebacker money

I like Mosley but the value needs to be good because A hes more of a stat tackler than playmaker and B his coverage hasnt been good and the way the league is built thats where we really need/ed him to shine.

Yes. Jensen will totally go to the New York Jets. A team with no success lined up within their future and one of the most incompetent organizations in the NFL that will undoubtedly treat him like dogshit.

All seriousness, if they want to overpay the man let him walk but if it turns out he's offered a fair deal and we don't match then I hope we fire Ozzie before we can pay for an undoubtedly expensive retirement party.
