my hope is that its an exact replica of the jordy to raiders situation where we always liked dez so as soon as this move goes down we have him on speed dial just in case - hopefully we'd manage to get him to visit us first and we wouldnt let him leave the building
If he's released, he may may get a free crab cakes for life offer as well.

Naturalbornhitters why the disagree on my post.

Um, because I disagree with your post??

I know you're a Packers fan and like coming here to kiss our ass's and all but let's be real, it's very unlikely that the Ravens will play the Packers in the next SB.

there's a difference between a number 1 receiver and an exciting playmaker - not every team has a number 1 and its not necessary to win games - you need a corps - no team goes deep in the playoffs without multiple pieces at wideout but having a number 1 wr is not necessary

we dont need a julio jones, we need a guy like marvin jones and i think there are multiple guys in this draft class who could be marvin jones or better

and i dont necessarily agree that this draft is devoid of potential number 1s - i think the reason there's not a lot of height to this draft's wr grades is because there are guys who have issues/low floors who might develop into 1s but there is risk or there's the safer guys who will most likely be number 2s

but i have at least 6 guys on my big board who i can feasibly see becoming number 1 type receivers if they pan out
Sounds like a few things are happening here that perhaps require clarification. Let’s start with my definition of a #1 WR. All apples are fruits. All oranges are fruits. All apples are not oranges. Therefore, Julio Jones is a #1 WR. Marvin Jones is a #1 WR. Marvin Jones is not Julio Jones. My definition of a #1 is a WR who can threaten you at every level of the defense and who is always a threat. I feel that describes both those players. It’s a player who is exciting to watch because you know they can beat you. That said, Julio Jones was taken much higher than Marvin. I don’t buy into the notion you need to take a guy at the top to be successful but I do think you see certain qualities.

What is my issue with the WR corps from this class? Low floor potentially high ceiling on many of them. Great thing but also dangerous and I just wish there were more with high floor high ceilings. It’s a shame we just didn’t get lucky in that regard. I’m not asking for freaking Jerry Rice here. All I want is a guy like an Allen Robinson or an Amari Cooper. I don’t think either guy is a top 5 WR but they’re both pretty damn great and they’re in the top tier.

by that definition then i definitely see some potential number 1 receivers in this draft class then - some safer than others but ultimately i see enough of them that we could get one

Yeah those guys are there it just concerns me that we won’t be able to identify them, won’t be aggressive to get them before someone trades ahead of us or takes them ahead of us, or that we can develop them. I like Bobby Engram better than most though so we’ll see.

Yeah, he certainly does but he is still a threat and a danger to play against. His hands absolutely need work, though, and Ridley has better hands but man he’s an older rookie and we need guys who will be here a while

Five years is a while.

Yes. I know. It's getting a little far ahead for me. Besides, Ridleys being twenty four wouldn't preclude a second contract by necessity.
I think Ridley is 23. Regardless I really don’t think it’s a concern. In fact it could be viewed as a possible advantage as he may be more mature physically and mentally than say a 20 year old rookie.

he did not have a 100 yd game last year. Like I said, I wanted hurns, if you think he's done, won't argue otherwise.

Prior to last year he was beat up for two straight years. Yeah..some wear and tear liability I suppose.
