Lamar Jackson

i know i sound like a broken record, but i cant fucking stress how impressive his pocket presence is, its honestly the greatest i have ever fucking seen, like im always biting my tongue and trying not to overhype it, but the more i watch the more impressed i become. what he does to extend the play is simply fucking jaw dropping. knowing that he was world class athleticism and can run circles around anyone on the field, he STILL stays patient with his eyes downfield as long as possible, and without taking his eyes off of his receivers he can plainly see every rusher closing in and successfully navigate away from the pressure, and he does it consistently, he can shake one rusher and at the same time position himself further from all the others, he works in multiple pockets in some plays because of the way he shifts, like to dodge one rusher he shifts into another shell of blockers and when another rusher begins to break through THEN he scrambles, and of course with his eyes downfield.

what he did vs houston was simply amazing.

his athleticism isnt his most impressive trait, his fucking patience and pocket navigating is, its just incredible that he can still play like that knowing how lethal his legs are. that just shows a certain level of understanding, that no matter how many big plays he can make with his legs, qbs win games by completing passes and staying healthy, he understands and he wants to be that passer, and he KNOWS when to run downfield and when to stay patient, he just always chooses wisely.

i fucking hope like hell he doesnt disappoint because ive never been this excited about a ravens prospect, or a prospect period. he is simply the most exciting player to think about, the fact that hes a raven is just weird, we dont get this excitement, we arent alllowed it, all the years of winning was supposed to banish us into football purgatory, but here we are finally having a reason to watch again.

I saw a tweet from PFF comparing him to other 2018 draft eligible QBs in forcing missed tackles and Lamar was comfortably above the other running oriented QBs. Even guys who played against way more inferior competition weren't even close. I honestly think he's the greatest running QB we have ever seen.

oh of course he was, hell he might be the top all time in that category if they recorded it long enough. his jukes in the pocket are so explosive and he always leaves defenders surprised, like he pays no mind to the rush and they think they have a blindside hit lined up and then suddenly theyre looking like ZDS.

He would make ZDS look like he was standing still

He is a running QB on a team that leads the league in IR. Think about that luck.

For God sales let the kid actually take a snap in training camp. He may turn out to be a great player, he may turn out to be a bust as many do. What is this desperate hurry to make him a God? Sounds like a man crush.
What is this desperate hurry to shit on people's excitement?

Go be fucking bored and boring on your own, nobodies anointing him, were just excited for obvious reasons

Hey brother, I have not watched tape on Lamar, so your post has me pumped up. If you don’t mind, how would you compare Lamar with Cam Newton coming out of college, because I really was high on Cam Newton’s potential. I’d love to hear your input, if you don’t mind me picking your brain.

didnt watch cam, i only watched highlights and a little bit of film back then, and didnt really watch much live college ball.

and either way i wasnt watching qbs at all then because we were right in the middle of Joes heyday lol

Fair enough, I was just curious because Cam was the last quarterback I was really super high on.

I will say that I DID watch deshaun Watson last year, and I was torn on him, I loved his mobility and undeniable clutch and intellectual understanding of the game, but hated his errant passes and accuracy issues.

I see the same in Lamar but he's got ten times the talent and his accuracy issues appear more fixable than watsons looked

That is something to get excited about because Watson was having a one hell of a season until he got hurt.

I watched Lamar Jackson's top 10 runs on youtube. I am still shaking my head in amazement. He is one hell of a QB because he only runs when all his passing options run out or if they are run plays by design. He is so fun to watch though. I cannot imagine there will actually be a day in the future when we can get really excited when the Ravens are on offense. Right now I only get excited when the Ravens D is on the field.
