I mean you did say he plays like a bitch so it seems like a big deal to you lol. And he isn’t leaving yards in the field. He’s running backwards to try and make guys miss. He’s doing the complete opposite of what you’re insinuating

Soulja is most definitely a bitch. 100% had moments when he could just go north south and gain 3/4 extra yards. I’m not sure what your watching but his MO is to avoid contact like the plague. It’s just not a big deal because it has never cost us in the moment. Also doesn’t hurt he is the fastest player on the field , so if he has that space to avoid contact ,he will go the distance.

In that case then it sounds a lot like he’s playing to his skill set and this is all for nothing

1. It’s not a show stopper or that big of a deal. Just nitpicking
2. He absolutely leaves yards on the field. 100%. It just hasn’t cost us
3. I expect him not to run backwards to avoid contact, i don’t expect him to be Anquan Boldin. give me a break Some of these CBs aren’t much bigger.
4. I think this has no bearing on the Ravens resigning him. It will come down to dollars after his 5th year.

I just don't see it that way. As mentioned above, he's playing to his skillset. He's not running through guys whether we like it or not. Instead, he tries to use his speed to create yards that way. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'd venture to guess that he's gained a lot more yards by trying to make something happen than just running straight forward. I know there's no way to quantify that really but can't let the bad overshadow the good. Irrespective of all of that, I have 0 problem with a guy that is already nicked up quite a bit due to his size not taking unnecessary hits.

Idk if it’s for the same reasons but I’m with you on this. I think it’s a poor idea to pay a guy a mega contract if they are fragile regardless of what they play. If Hollywood loses his top end speed he literally becomes an extremely average wr.

My take is anyone your paying a mega contract has to have multiple great qualities.

I still want to 5th year him and if he is killer in the next two years it’ll be something to think about. But if Bateman is amazing and someone else steps up, I think the conversation is easy

I have a feeling Bateman steps up in a big way next year. Hollywood is a match up nightmare with his speed but he has always struck me as a bitch. Talking shit on social media after losses and avoiding contact at all cost. I’d like to avoid that type of player for the long term. The Ravens are definitely going to pick up his 5th year option though, long term contract is separate discussion. I think he’ll price himself out of town.

I seriously doubt the Ravens let one of the better WR's get away. He's worth a 15m per year contract and he's also Lamar's best friend and is constantly improving.....every season. This would be a big mistake, even if Bateman steps up next season. Why can't we have two top WRs and a TE, like other teams have. With the cap going up after the 2022 season, we should be able to fit his cap hits in.

Absolutely, I don't think I'd be crazy in claiming that we have a top 5 receiving (TE + WR) room atm. Not only are the individual players great, but they are starting to mesh together as well. Definitely an area we want to preserve as long as we can.

Now we just need Gus and Dobbins to come back as they were before for a top 5 RB room and we'll be cooking with gas!

All we would need is a competent tackle tandem and we're gucci!

Hollywood needs to be here. He’s a core player on offense. While I’ve defended Roman a lot this year, I think the biggest issues with Hollywood is honestly everyone but Hollywood, he’s an unquestionably an elite route runner in this league, one of the absolute best at every route on the tree, Lamar has not done well getting him the ball recently, Roman has not done well designing route concepts, and there has been too much emphasis on improvisation, sweep style passes, and relying on Hollywood pulling defenders deep and separating back to the qb to create running room. We had some things going on the first half of the year but the OL wouldn’t allow for it to keep developing, Lamar got spooked, Roman didn’t build on the early successes, everything compounded.

simple fact is, Hollywood is a key component of evolving this passing game. He’s a core player.

hard to say given all the injuries various units but certainly we're not far off - we're at least in that top 10 conversation

Bucs
Cowboys
Bills
Bengals
Cardinals
Chiefs
Rams

id say those groups are probably clearly ahead right now (but maybe not for long)
but ravens definitely in the next group with the chargers, vikings, 49ers, dolphins, eagles, broncos

obviously though injuries to the bucs and cardinals and rams have affected their groups somewhat

and if we start adding backs and just looking at skill position groups as a whole then im not sure there's going to be many better than the ravens in 2022 - probably looking at the bengals, cowboys, bucs

He gets open deep and no one can hit him

When he runs backwards he retreats 5 yards on multiple occasions. When other WRs run the same curl routes its maybe 1-2 yards and a quick pivot.

I don’t think that’s true tbh - think he was getting beat in pass pro far more often at LG than C and while he was a good pulling guard he was less effective in driving guys off the line in more conventional blocks from that position

I don’t think he’s got a high ceiling at C but I think he’s a better C than LG
Perhaps, not sure if the improvement came from position change or skill improvement in general. Going off memory at this point, I feel he was better at LG last year than he has been at C this year; however, that of course that could just be recency bias against his recent position on my part. I think he’s worth retaining either way for either group but I feel we could do better at C but could definitely do worse. Tough call too depending on Stanley’s recovery as it may not matter. Hopefully he’s doing well

Ty hilton played the same way. Ty was a better route runner but he went outta bounds and dell to the ground alot. Ive seen tyreke hill do it too.. i get what youre saying though and it do seem like he play soft but he gotta stay healthy and get that bag

100% - i do think we could get better at C but bozeman's good enough that if we keep him we wont be looking for (or actively needing to look for) an upgrade

Not sure if it was said and I missed it but Hollywood is definitely a key component to the offense. If we lost him people could just continue to stack the box and stuff the run with or without our OL or RBs improved. Granted, Andrews helps too and Bateman will as well but none have the Hollywood speed.

I think if you keep Bozeman (and hopefully we do) we pick the best guy to be LG or C and move Bozeman to the other spot. I’d prefer LG but am not against C. Either way I think the guy next to him needs an upgrade.

I agree with you on the football side of the house. It’s just going to come down to financials and some team ,notorious for bad contracts, will out bid us.
