It's fair to point out and he could be better for it considering he'd theoretically be more difficult to move, but weight has little direct correlation with footwork. Even maintaining balance has a significant mental aspect. If the latter two were an issue, then they'll likely remain unless they're addressed specifically. We've seen mammoth athletes be outmatched because they had trouble understanding the concepts of body control and positioning such as Greg Robinson. On the flip side, we've seen Donald Penn lose weight and basically chisel his technique from scratch to become an outstanding lineman. I'm personally rooting for Jensen. We've seen flashes and I hope he succeeds; but it's puzzling to presume that the losses of two starters are canceled out by a returning player's weight gain, which is far from guaranteed to solve his issues from last season. If anything, just the fact that he's looking good in OTAs should be the main focus, and it's an obvious plus. Not to sound anything like Winchester, but he looks to be much bigger than he was last season and he has looked good in OTA's, yes I understand everyone looks good in shorts, but it's all I have to go by.
I would agree if Jensen came in at the same weight he was last season than we would be in trouble, but he's 322 lbs this season, much closer the the 320 or so he weighed in 2015. I do agree with everything that you are saying, though. Still feel the OL will be better this season due Jensen's weight and a better scheme fit. At least the run blocking.
A note on Maclin as to not derail the thread entirely, but I feel like the space could do him justice after the proper bonding. In either case, I'm glad that we've reached out about Decker as well in case we need a plan B.
