Film Breakdowns

Ravens Ring of Honor
Really like these breakdowns from All 22. This one is on Hollywood

Crazy how his numbers would be even much better if he had just caught the two sure fire TD plays against Detroit. Also a testament to his development in that he didn’t get inside his head after a bad performance unlike last year

let me know what you guys think about this guy.

i think you're right - if he's coming here he's going to be more of a 5tech/3-4 DE type

but he's more of a volume producer in the passing game than an actual consistent pass rush threat (at least on the outside) - but he's only 24 and he's clearly a somewhat ascending guy

if it's a question of him vs arden key though, im going key

Its hard to find Key doing much of anything vs. run. Not on the field as much so difficult for me to get a bead on anything other than 3rd down rushes

if you bring him in, that's what you're bringing him in for - pass rush specialist who specialises in interior pressure - that's highly valuable especially with how much the ravens like to substitute and get into sub-packages

he'll come in and play 35-40% of the snaps and that's fine by me if he's a consistent pressure threat when reduced inside - the potential 4/5 man front you can put on the field with key in passing situations is vastly superior to the one you put on the field with green and for me that's the crucial difference

Good video....The fumbles that you talk of, are they lost fumbles or just all fumbles. Also what is the median in fumbling. Ekeler had 4 fumbles, Mike Davis lost 4 fumbles, Deebo had a number of fumbles. @Edgar

Cool video. I liked his analysis of the plays and it was cool to see them again slowed down. I would say that calling him WR2 is definitely a big overreaction. Like of you noticed, on 4 out of those 5 plays Shemar was given about 12 yards of cusion by a backup corner and was never jammed let a line touched at the LOS. Another guy who excells in those circumstances even in the regular season is Duvernay. The issue is simply those situations are few and far between. Shemar needs to keep dominating backups this preseason and show he can play STs to even make the roster. If he does make the roster it will be very interesting the playing time he gets. Will he be given real opportunity to use his size or will he be given the Proche treatment?

My hope is that next preseason game they roll out Shemar early against 1s and 2s and that someone presses him so we can see what he's capable of.

haha coach is off on this one lol

he had a good game but outside of the sluggo (which was admittedly a really nice route) there was nothing particularly remarkable about his route-running

he showed some decent work at the catch-point high-pointing, good ball-tracking, creating late-separation and protecting the ball at the catch-point

certainly some positive things but WR2... after beating up on 2nd/3rd team guys he had a 7 inch height advantage over? to me he looks like a prime practice squad guy right now who has a chance to make a case in game 2 and 3 but idk that this was it yet

That's what I mean hahaha. Like let me see what Shemar can do when another teams CB1 or CB2 jams him. If he can still out muscle and make plays then I'm in. I'm just so skeptical of that right now

the thing about his style of play as well is that it's so implicitly about trust - clearly anthony brown trusts him because they've probably practiced a lot together but id be surprised if lamar had basically any non 1v1 reps with Shemar - and if lamar has no chemistry or trust in shemar then he's not getting thrown those types of balls which means his value on the roster at that point is fairly meaningless if he makes it

i think he's got a ton of promise but i think coach has missed the forest for the trees here - id love us to keep him around on the PS and see if we cant develop him but all the context clues tell us that he's not in the top 6, let alone top 5 on the depth chart on the roster right now and i think it's notable that the PR guys put Polk ahead of him on their depth chart (as meaningless as that depth chart is in reality)
