General Draft Thoughts

Livid

I just can’t see any scenario where he’s anything close to the top player on the board. We’re picking at 28 and there’s certainly 28 players superior to swift not even factoring needs, add in the inevitable blunders of reaches before we pick, there is essentially zero chance swift is even top ten on the board at 28

So just hear me out for one second. I answered the question very literally. Would I be mad. You put livid. Now I am just genuinely asking would you really be livid? Like I would be livid if we picked Murray. I would not be happy that we took Swift, but I really would not be even close to mad. I understand and happen to agree with everything you said, but would it be the craziest thing in the world for the best rushing team in history to really prioritize its running backs. I don't think so. Again wouldn't love him in the first, would not be mad.

They’re my 1a and 1b at 28, I would consider them right about even in value with the determining factor being that I think I can find a solid edge rusher later, and I’m practically certain you can find not only a solid, but a stud DL later. With wr I think the depth hype of the class is bullshit tbh and if you pass on a mims at 28 you’re not gonna find another star wr, there are solid guys all throughout but mims is a legitimate Julio Jones potential kinda guy, I’m not missing out on what I think he could become because of needs.

Honestly for me after Lamb, Jeudy, Ruggs, Jefferson, and Mims, there's a huge drop off for me. I'm not high on Reagor or Ayiuk or Higgins or Shenault etc.

Yes lol, literally livid, because the difference it makes in this team is so minimal and there is zero doubt that you could bridge a much wider gap in overall performance by drafting at literally any other position. I’d draft trevon diggs before swift despite our cb group being the top unit on the team.

Hahaha I'd take Swift over Diggs but I understand and agree with your point overall!

There's a reason why there's a JoeyFlex5 meltdown thread. Picks like Swift (and maybe Murray) would expand that thread tenfold. Speaking of threads, @SepticeyePoe , is there going to a meltdown 2.0 thread or should we just bump the old thread?

Kj halmer is nice.. dude looks so advanced from the slot shit is crazy.. routes are creative and everything. something just isnt right though cause he always seem to be wide open.

Edit- he catches with his body way too much and doesnt go up to attack the ball

Accurate write up tbh, those high you listed are extremely high though. I agree his play strength is far from desirable but I’ve noticed he has a knack for ragdolling guys on occasion, he just has a play here and there where the twitch and explosion and momentum all come together for a perfect storm and he ragdolls a blocker with ease. If he can add some functional strength and hone in on whatever that is that he does very sporadically then he could really become something special. My being enamored with him has a lot to do with our defense, many other teams I think I’d be less sold, but he moves so goddamn fast and quick and in control with such great flexibility as he changes direction that I just drool over the though of wink sending him on standup stunts the way he did with ZDS.
Also it’s funny you’ve gotten higher on those guys, I’ve gotten a bit lower on them all lol

Anae’s the only one who’s made a really big jump - everyone else maybe shuffled up the board a bit

He’s not a great route runner but he gets open with pure athleticism and then moves so well in the open field

But drops are a major issue

it's also a question of how much more efficient can this rushing offence really get and does the value he offers potentially in the passing game trump the value we'd get from a passing game specialised position like WR

and ingram is a good 3rd down back too

our offence did something historic last year - literally historic - expecting to exceed that or even repeat it is entirely unrealistic and chasing it will only put our offence in a bad spot philosophically moving forwards in its development

yes swift would be a weapon - but would he be a better weapon than a receiver or an OL?
I expect the offense to have a natural evolution and I do think this was the plan for Lamar Jackson all along. I doubt we have the same rushing statistics as we did last year and that's ok, but I do see us passing the ball more.

He also has a huge drop problem, I love hamlers game but due to the drops I won’t touch him til R2

Yea but his routes are a lil creative though so i think thats a good start.. idk which game it was but i did see drop like 2 passes, however that wasthe only time i remember him dropping passes.

I wouldnt touch hin at all.. i dnt think him and hollywood wouldnt fit well.. both too small and gets pushed around when trying to run block.. youre the 2nd person to mention his drops so thats a big red flag.
