it's interesting that that proposal is coming from a team that's not lost any staff to hirings this offseason and maybe should have

doing their coaches and front office personnel a solid with this sort of proposal rather than taking the gift that is being able to retain Daboll and Frazier when they otherwise might have been highly coveted

Truthfully there shouldn't even need to be a rule change or vote for this, just the NFL announce this is the new process. Should have been done 5 years ago.

yep and now they've got 10m dead money on their 2022 cap for a QB who's not going to be playing for them - right now it would be the 3rd biggest hit on their cap in 2022 too lol (obviously guys will get paid that will change that) - and it looks like they're gonna have no salary cap issues relative to the rest of the league in 2022 as it stands

so i get why it was an attractive option for them to just shift some of that cap hit into 2022...
