I saw that coming. I believe a respectable organization would pay their players, but we are talking about the Potomac Drainage Basin and they are far from a respectable organization.

Patrick Mahomes will start Sunday against the Titans.
Coach Andy Reid said that Mahomes will start Sunday "unless something changes" between now and game time. He practiced in full all week and is good to go for Sunday. The return of the 2018 league MVP is obviously a massive boost for everyone involved in the Chiefs' explosive offense. Mahomes should also benefit from the improved health of his skill position players, as Week 10 will his first game this season with each of Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins healthy for 60 minutes *knocks on wood*. The Titans defense has been significantly better against the run (No. 3 in DVOA) than the pass (No. 20) through nine weeks.

Tbh he should get more than 1 yr and they already wanting to get rid of him midyear. I guess losing to the Phins addles the brain.
normally id give a HC more than a year - but with gase its more than just on field performances that's an issue - the organisation seems to be in flames with him at the helm - players dont want to be there, no one is playing hard, he's not even doing the one thing he was brought in to do (i.e. improve sam darnold) - all of these are pretty urgent problems

He also didn't have a good track record while with the Phins. Darnold has seemed to improve somewhat and has been out with injuries but with some of the FA moves like acquiring Bell and Moseley they should be better than a 1 win team.
i would say darnold looked better as a rookie than he does this year - he has shown no meaningful development - still has the same issues he had last year and in college with seemingly no concerted effort or plan to change things schematically to help either

His record was only good in Denver. Even I would probably look like competent and accomplished OC with Manning.
Gase has a 6 year contract and will get paid either way.

Newton was hoping to avoid this fate but now that he's been ruled out for 2019, the nine-year vet is open to exploring all options. If Newton does decide to go under the knife, a determination that should be made within the next week or two, he'd be facing an 8-10 week recovery. This could very well mark the end of an era as Rapoport believes it's "highly unlikely" Newton will remain a Panther in 2020, noting a trade elsewhere as the "most likely" outcome for the former MVP. Kyle Allen will finish out the year at quarterback for Carolina.

Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reports former Lions WR Charles Rogers has died at 38.
The cause of his death is still being determined. A prolific college performer at Michigan State (his 27 career receiving touchdowns still stands as a school record), Rogers never measured up in the pros, failing to live up to expectations after being drafted second overall in 2003. The Lions let him go two years later citing substance abuse issues. The former Spartan also battled injuries during his short time with the Lions, fracturing his clavicle in each of his first two seasons. Even if his NFL career was largely forgettable, Rogers was still an immense talent during his prime, particularly on the college level. He'll be missed.
