Around the NFL: News and Rumors

i disagree, they've compiled strong elements of a roster with promising/burgeoning players at key positions on both offence and defence - no one should be expected to turn a trainwreck of a team like cleveland around in 2 years - 3 seems to be a legitimate period - look at how oakland and jacksonville were doing after 2 years and how they suddenly looked promising in year 3 after keeping their "maligned" front office - i do think they need/should really consider a coaching change because they dont have the worst roster in the NFL at all but somehow cant even fall into more than 1 win in their last 28 games - that's ridiculous and nothing to do with talent at all

for me it makes no sense not to finish this front office project they have going - all the best players on their team have come from this new regime and there are only 1 or 2 holdovers from previous front offices which tells you all you need to know about the talent they had before - i realise it seems extra critical because they have the 1st pick in a strong (looking) qb draft but fear should not be driving anyone in that organisation's decision making
Ok, so they have a picked some really talented players. I agree with you there, but look at the players they have passed on while on the clock, ie Wentz and Watson. One of which the coach really wanted in Wentz. If the staff and coach aren’t working well together something has to be fixed. I’m not so sure I want this staff picking a qb if they have already passed on two really good options, maybe even three if you count Goff.

ok so you can do that to every team in that same span - virtually every team has passed on good players...
the wentz one is the only one i feel is really justifiable criticism - watson was not highly regarded around the league and was deemed a reach by most teams at 12 and also virtually all of the media - and goff was taken before their pick so you cant really criticise that pick...

i dont see, outside of the wentz non-pick, why this organisation is criticised more heavily than other organisations for missing on qbs/not taking qbs high - the jets werent, the 49ers werent, the bears were criticised for taking one

i think this idea that the browns front office arent doing the draft and the offseason right is a little bit about media narratives that are constructed by media members who used to work in football in some capacity who dont quite understand what the browns front office is doing and/or if they disagree with a browns personnel decision/a decision doesnt work out then they use the "moneyball" stick to beat them with

i went back and watched some of jimmy g from this week and the 49ers must be pinching themselves - they got a polished looking franchise qb for a 2nd round pick in the middle of the season - he was dancing around the pocket and was so light on his feet and balanced while he was reading the field and making beautiful touch passes

These bengals had this game and due to over 150 yards of penalties to this point are now tied after having a 17-0 lead

surely the league has to do something about the level of officiating in the league after this quite public destruction of the officials by the crew and their abysmal performance on the field

literally game changing

Honestly, Marvin Lewis should be fired tomorrow and joining Ben McAdoo in the unemployment line but we all know he won't.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was hospitalized after suffering a spinal contustion during the first quarter of Monday's 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, multiple team sources told NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala.

In a statement released by the team, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said Shazier underwent CT and MRI scans at the hospital and that he will not need surgery at this time. He said Shazier will remain in the hospital overnight for further evaluation with "hopes of returning to Pittsburgh on Tuesday."

Doctors will know more about Shazier's injury once some of the injury's swelling subsides, Kinkhabwala reported.

Sounds like it might not be as bad as it looked. Hopefully.

I'm really excited about Jimmy G's future. He is going to be a stud.

Absolutely. They don’t march down the field with Burfict in the game....twice

he wont be fired but it sounds like he's thought a lot about retirement this offseason - could very well see him move into the front office as a pseudo gm and have someone take the HC job (maybe Hue Jackson if he's fired by the Browns)

so it now sounds like ryan shazier's injury is not as simple as it was reported to be earlier this morning - positive signs seemed to be that he had some movement in his extremities but with spinal concussion it would have improved pretty quickly which suggests this is a contusion which is less promising

NFL strongly considering a one game suspension for JuJu and Ian Rapoport says its very likely to happen.

would be nice to see the redskins help us out by beating the chargers sunday.
Damn, you mean I have to root for them.

BTW, I think the Chargers are going to win the division, which would mean we are rooting for whoever is playing an AFC West team, considering they are all 6-6.

Latest round of news:

Gronk's suspension upheld after the appeal, he'll miss week 14 game
Bills placed Shaq Lawson and Jordan Matthews on IR. Not that they will miss much either of these two.
Colts placed LB John Simon on IR due to shoulder injury.
Amari Cooper still in concussion protocol.
Ryan Shazier will undergo some more testing, so no early return to Pittsburgh. They are hoping to have him released from hospital by the end of the week.
