I think so.

A 3-down RB would erase any tells / tendencies we might have on offense. We know what Gus is. We know what Hill is.

Plus, I'm not sold on Hill being our RB2. If we had JK with Gus as our RB2.... man this offense would be godly :crying:

Possibly. That requires more cash up front though. Will have to see if that's part of Steve's motivation or not. Lamar drives a lot of that, but not sure we'll see Steve spend $281M on players like he did this year. It was a nearly $60M increase YoY.
 
If we were to trade for a player, who or what position could actually put us over the top? Till bengals pull it together, chances are… we would have to go through either kc or dolphins in the playoffs..

I'd like to see us trade for an every down type of rb and then sign Suh. Wouldn't be mad at another Safety for depth either or nickel. Against the Chiefs can't afford to turn the ball over.

NFL year after year has become more and more level of a playing field. There just aren't that many great teams. In fact, this year, I would say there aren't any great teams. With that being said it's all relative.

At the top I think you have:

1) Chiefs, Eagles, and 49ers.
2) Bills, Dolphins, Cowboys
3) Lions, Jags, Browns

After that are there even any teams that are relevant? Chargers, Bengals, Steelers?

I don't feel like there are 8 teams that could win the SB.

Funniest thing of all is idk where I'd put the Ravens. They could be better than literally everyone else or they could be Chargers tier. Let's see how this team matures on the back half.

Yea its def not 8 teams that can win SB. Idk where we would rank neither, but whats really crazy, most, if not all the top teams have peeked or we have seen their best. Ravens still going through the motions due to some injuries

Thing for me is... I'm not sure there's anybody I wouldn't want to play at this point. Like I don't love the idea of playing the Chiefs in the playoffs, but KC's offense doesn't look special to me at all. In prior years, the thought was "hey you need to go score 30 to beat them". Not sure that's true anymore.

Jury is still way, way out on Miami. Their defense is just really total shit, and to this point, they're 0-2 (and not overly competitive) against the two good teams they've played.

Miami for me is basically Dallas in the AFC. There's weeks where they look great against inferior teams. But literally every week they play a team that's either on par or better than them, they don't look impressive at all. Those two teams have about 5-6 games per year that actually "matter". The rest is filler. They're playoff teams. If they keep their QBs healthy, they'll win 11-12 games in their sleep. We know that. We know they can beat bad teams and sometimes pummel them. Can they beat good teams?

There's not a single team in the AFC I fear today if I'm the Ravens. Funny thing is, if they get in, the team I'd probably want to play the least would probably be the Bengals.

For the AFC (assuming no long term injuries to their QBs):
Chiefs, Jags, Dolphins, Ravens, Bengals. I have high confidence those five teams will make the playoffs. No idea who wins the North, though. I have hopes for us, mostly because the Bengals have a tough stretch here in the next 5-6 weeks, but they also have a softer Dec schedule than the Ravens do. Bengals could be 5-5 or 5-6 and still end up finishing 10-7.

I think the Bills are a playoff team only because the AFC is much worse than anybody anticipated. I actually have decent wagers in the preseason on fading Buffalo to make the playoffs. Their "decline", which is a little overstated, is not surprising in the slightest. Buffalo really does very little "well" as a football team, has basically no identity, and there's a lot of noise on that team. Easily one of the least talented playoff teams.

I have no idea who takes the 7th spot, but I guess by default it'll be Pittsburgh. I have no faith in Cleveland. They're one of the top 3-4 most talented rosters in football, but Watson is injured and sucks when he's not injured. They're literally in a dog fight week in and week out against average or below average teams to win. Extremely dependent on their defense, and I think they'll just be too inconsistent to make it. Though their schedule isn't difficult.
Pittsburgh is slightly better than Cleveland, and has an easy schedule also.

Chargers are an afterthought. Stick a fork in them. They need to suck so they can fire Staley. Most of their tough games at home (meaningless in LA though), but they still play Ravens, Bills, Chiefs, Lions. They could easily lose all four of those games. That's 8-9 losses right there.

So if I were to guess today:
1. Chiefs
2. Jags
3. Dolphins
4. Ravens
5. Steelers
6. Bengals
7. Bills

Maybe some swapping in the seeds. I think Pittsburgh and Jacksonville will have better seeds than people think.

NFC, honestly, I think its just about seeding, the 7th seed, and who wins the shit show that is the South.

Eagles, Cowboys, 49ers, Seahawks, Lions, NFC South winner. I think those six are pretty well locked in. Think Vikings, Rams, and maybe another NFC South get into the mix for the 7 seed.

Barring some major injuries, I'd be quite surprised to not see a Eagles/49ers NFCG.

I'd sell all my stock on Buffalo. I don't even think they make the playoffs. They used to win with a top 5 D and and a 2 man offense (Allen/Diggs). Now its just an average D and a 2 man offense.

I dunno, seems to me Josh Jacobs fits the offense better and would be cheaper in both dollars and draft picks. I would totally buy low on that monster. Maybe Raiders get blown out MNF and do what they gotta do and sell.
