That's why I've always liked him as a hybrid ILB/OLB. Think they could do so much more with him but I've been beating that drum for awhile. However, with that being said... if we do move to more of a 4-3, he'd be a damn good SLB/OTTO.
Is there a deal for Judon already in place or something.... how is this going to work? They cannot possibly have enough to even sign draft picks let alone be under the cap...
agree with that - i just think in the 3-4 we run he's wasted at ILB - he's not physical coming downhill and doesnt look like he'd be great with his run fits or filling a gap so he's there ostensibly to cover but he's better covering from that Sam OLB position in our defence where he adds value with deception too and he's more dangerous as an outside rusher
So there is good left in you! Hurraywant some positivity? I think Ben Powers is going to be a solid player and he showed me more than i expected in his limited playing time
Judon-Brockers-Williams-Campbell in the front 4 base
Clark/Fort - ??? - Bowser in the LB group
I'm intrigued.
that's if we run a 4-3 but it would also negate Judon's versatility as a strength from that kind of front - i think we'll probably remain in the same hybrid type front we've run for almost the last decade (maybe more tbh) where we cram the LoS with all sorts of versatile guys
Make that multiple ligaments.yeah and this move saves 3m and LJ's acl
I don’t disagree. We’ll remain hybrid. I’m just dreaming of the possibilities lol
Specifically as a deeper blitz, like lined up well off the ball and send him, allow him to use his natural explosiveness, before blockers notice he’s already closed the gap, and let him use his great flexibility and agility to stunt from deep as well.I know this is something that I've said every year because I still don't think we're using Bowser to the best of his abilities, but lining him up inside and sending him as a rusher could be incredibly tough to defend.
@Sami84 it's so wonderful that your presence automatically makes this site so dark and angry like a solitary and humungous dark cloud hovering over it threatening to rain down thunder storms and lightning!!They have got worse every year since 2016. No thank you
1. Need to see what the cap hits for Campbell and Brockers look like. Unfortunately, they're almost guaranteed to be pretty backloaded at this point. Is there a deal for Judon already in place or something.... how is this going to work? Javon Hargraves becomes the highest paid NT in the NFL at 3 years 39m and 26m fully guaranteed
Kyle Van Noy getting crazy money at 4 years 51m
Are we unhappy to be done on Day 1? It’s been a pretty productive free agency for us already...1. Need to see what the cap hits for Campbell and Brockers look like. Unfortunately, they're almost guaranteed to be pretty backloaded at this point.
Theoretically, including all the transactions we've done, we should have ~$19-20M to fit in Brockers and Campbell this year. My guess is Brockers would come in around $7-8M in year one, meaning Campbell's cap hit is probably in the $11-12M range.
2. I do agree there has to be another roster move coming. In my eyes, its either going to be declining Carr's option, which would save you about $6M, OR, they pretty much already know they're going to trade Judon.
Cutting Carr alone probably only creates enough space to sign your draft picks and MAYBE add a cheap veteran or two, like Jihad Ward and McPhee types.
So either we're basically done with FA after day one, or they're going to trade Judon and target some other players. If the Judon trade is coming, I'd expect it to happen within a matter of days.
One thing's clear.... they want to get better in the front 7, and they're willing to spend for it. Appears they'll target Oline, WR, and hopefully linebacker/Corner, in the draft.

We got rid of 2 Hursts for a 2nd round pick.I’m OK getting rid of Hurst for a nice 2nd round pick in this draft. I didn’t read what other people said but I think that’s a great move because Hurst was an older guy on a rookie deal. I really liked what he could’ve been here but he wasn’t getting many looks because of Andrews and Boyle. Furthermore, we could get ourselves a WR here to replace his hands and route running in a strong draft class. We can also look at rookie TE and draft one to inject some youth as well so that’s exciting.
Campbell is a great move because even if his pass rushing drops he’s solid against the run and will make a devastating combo with Williams. He will also help our pass rushing issues and we could still get a rookie DL as well without any issues.
I’m only slightly surprised by James Hurst being cut but I guess if your name is Hurst then you’re gone here lol. Regardless, it definitely is strange considering the depth we have at IOL without Yanda.
I mean... I guess it depends on how you look at it.Are we unhappy to be done on Day 1? It’s been a pretty productive free agency for us already...
