The General Front 7 Thread

I’d rather wait until the 3rd or 4th round to take a rb unless a stud falls to us in the first. My first round is as follows. I’d be happy with either one these picks and ecstatic with the first three.

Rosen
Fitzpatrick
Nelson
McGlinchey
Ridley

As shitty as I think Flacco is playing, I don't see the point in taking a qb yet and would guess the FO sees it as I do. Inside out on both sides. Fix the OL and let the next coach pick his guy. The bright side would also be that there wouldn't be many holes if we get this next off season right and we do move on from Harbaugh. With "no" holes, we'd be able to make a move like the Eagles for a guy we did really value. And can you imagine the outrage here if we take a safety with our first pick next year?

Don't watch much college ball so can't say he was someone I liked, but Thomas would be real helpful right now. Not mad about stacking the defense either. After the draft I figured they would count this as a growing year for the young guys and the upcoming year the other side is addressed. We're honestly set on defense minus ILB and S for the future. I'm really hoping the early picks go to OL or a work horse back, but preferably OL.
Thomas should've been a first rounder and this isn't hindsight. He was the best wr in the 2016 class and tbh it wasn't really close. Far from the best athlete but definitely the most skilled and polished and NFL ready, his body type, moderate athleticism, polished skill set, and attacking mentality were bar none the best in the class.

I see it now... with the ___teenth pick, the Baltimore Ravens select... Ronnie Harrison, S, Alabama.

Fuck. I'll kill myself.

I don’t see Rosen falling to our current draft position, but if he’s there we better trade down it take him, because he would be an awesome pick at that spot and the bpa. I don’t care if the fan base is pissed, he’s the best player available by a decent amount and in a position of need. That being said, he most likely also won’t be there. That being said I do believe our early picks will be offensive players and not just skill players.

I'll take your word for it then. Who would you compare him too?

Well that's what Walter Football has us taking(because you know Alabama, man they have gone down hill especially with our picks probably because they thought they had inside information that we would take Cam Robinson in the first and they feel burned) then CB Anthony Averett Alabama because it's not like we have Jimmy, Tavon and just drafted Marlon and then RB Bo Scarbrough Alabama because 2 Alabama players were not enough.

And yet, if we don't screw this up and actually make a wild card spot, Harrison might be the best player left on the board at the position of significant need when Ozzie's clock starts ticking.

yeah michael thomas is playing like an absolute star in that system - he's completely justifying them trading brandon cooks away to new england

that list is dead on with mine right now - problem is that if we fall into a couple more wins (or even the playoffs) im not sure any of those guys are available when we pick

if josh rosen is there, we have to take him, he's easily bpa and he's a gamechanging talent - he forces joe to play better or he's benched, he's then also the qb of the future who you can either have sit a year or he competes with joe and then replaces joe once we can get rid of joe's contract

if he's there you take him - that being said, he's going top 3 at worst

That's actually true. After I posted that I started thinking I'd like him in the second but that's doubtful. He's a hell of an enforcer

Yeah and the reasoning is literally "it's best Alabama player available right?" Man they had a good stretch but they're just fucking off now

Not that I don't like Ronnie Harrison, I really do, but I can't fathom adding to the secondary in the first, it's by far the best unit on the team

i could but it would have to be mincah or bust if we go secondary round 1 tbh with what ive seen of the class so far

Yeah, he is - doesn't miss much. The thing is, earlier in his Bama career he showed he can read QB and make a play on the ball. Had a few picks back while Minkah was a CB mostly.

I'd even have trouble taking minkah and I'm a hardcore BPA guy. I just think at some point it becomes an embarrassment of riches and the rest of the team suffers from it. Like if we took minkah over a Nelson or ridley I'd be mad as shit

i dunno - mincah's that good, and weddle looks less great in coverage

but he's the only non-offensive guy id want really in the first...

It’s a long time until the draft. Lots can and will change.
