Nah. You’re making this entirely about this one specific thing, what Deebo said was extremely broad and vague, you drew your own summaries to make it only about earl thomas stepping into a box safety green dot role, as you are one to do. You love to find the tiniest hole or potential hole in ones argument, beat that hole to death, and turn it into your own discussion.

It was broad and vague because he thinks its broad and vague. And he defended it in a detailed way after I called him out for how bad the logic was, which means he still thinks its true, and why he can't find anybody on Earth to agree with him. Hence why he suggested "he's got great football IQ", which is like one of the worst justifications for an opinion of how a player could make a position switch and still be better than one of the better one's. He could make a position switch and be better than me at it, because I'm not a football player.

This wasn't a tiny hole. This is like the size of the black hole. That's how big the hole was.

If people want me to draw better summaries, maybe defending positions with broad, vague opinions isn't the best approach to get their views across.

The spirit of the argument is: would you rather have a safety like earl thomas who is an excellent deep cover safety with all time Levels of football iq, or would you rather have what we have currently which are polar opposite (more in the box and downhill types) and have been a large part of our struggles vs KC.

you won’t argue that though, you will only argue that earl thomas isn’t a green dot wearing box safety like chuck Clark and couldn’t fill that role.

I think I was pretty clear on my argument already. ET is a better Safety than Elliott, because he's better in pass coverage, which is what NFL teams desire in 2021. That's the comparison. There shouldn't be a comparison to Clark, because they're not asked to do the same things.

But I'm not the one that compared the two (at least not first). You'll have to ask Deebo why he compared ET to Clark, and why he thinks neither of them combined are as good as ET. Again, if its fair to compare them both combined to ET, which he attempted (badly) to do, it doesn't quite seem logical that all the sudden you can't compare him to one or the other separately. If he's better than both combined, then he should be better at what both of them do. And there's no actual Ravens fan who watches games that thinks ET is better than Clark at what Clark is asked to do.

I already tried asking him to explain, and I got a lot of "naw man" and "lmao", which of course isn't an explanation for anything.

Putting my moderator hat on and suggesting we draw a line under this discussion because it's one of the most futile, pointless and non-productive discussions i can remember recently lol... the whole basis of the argument is hella obfuscated to begin with anyway

It's the offseason thread (or one of them), and it's late June. Nothing is happening, and no discussions are really productive at this point. Give it another month and we'll finally have things to talk about.

Should we just jump right into the "Sammy Watkins is the new #1 receiver on the Ravens" based on OTA reports instead? I wonder if that will get contentious...

All 3 will be gone next year and our 2 starting safeties will be Ar’Darius Washington and Geno Stone.

Clark will definitely be back. Cheap, plays well, no reason he'd be gone. Deshon is a total wildcard for me.
No clue whether Stone will even make the team this year. My guess would be no...

Nope. That two years was to learn it. The rest is physical. May have had great football IQ, but implementation of intelligence is largely a product of desire. Not like ET really showed you he was willing to do whatever was best for the team. One of the reasons he's not here anymore.

Football IQ only gets you to a certain point. A lot of really smart guys in this league who can't play a lick.

It dont matter what other smart guys can do though. et is smart and he can play. Its only one reason why Et isnt here by the way.didnt ET basically play in the box vs patriots that year.. played great then
