I know you wanna ease the pain for kirk buts its undeniable at this point… he dnt perform when the lights on
I mean I think the data pretty much points to it being deniable. Doesn't seem to be a Cousins problem. Seems to be a Vikings/Redskins problem. Pretty hard to have those Sunday night numbers and be 4-4. Those are like better-than-Brady level numbers in primetime.

Tony romo is another one of these cases, such a common view that he was a choke artist, but he was one of the leaders in career 4th quarter comebacks league wide for a lot of his career, and had absurd fourth quarter stats in one score games.

It feels like it makes a lot of sense that cousins plays poorly in big moments, that KINDA was him, but Kirk has been going tf off with Justin Jefferson for a while now and he’s doing it in all moments, big and small, and he’s a big part of why they looks like the nfls best team. He’s getting paid what looks affordable by todays standards and he’s got a loaded roster around him and he’s elevated his play as his roster has elevated, can’t ask for much more from Kirk until he screws up.

And I mean I'm not going to sit here and say Kirk is "clutch" by any means. Its entirely possible that he's just making terrible throws in big spots. But overall its pretty much impossible to have those numbers in primetime and it be all your fault why your team has like a 30% win pct or whatever it is. Like there's clearly plenty of other guys not stepping up in big moments when that happens.

Agree on Romo. He's pretty much the modern post boy for coaches, players, analysts knowing he was very good, but fans using like one or two events and extrapolating it as a massive failure for the entire career. Fans just whiffed badly on Romo for most of his career.

So here's kind of where the fans lose me on this though. My question is... have fans actually looked at the data on this?
The data, though a bit misguided, would tell you its a Monday Night issue (sort of), not a primetime issue.

10-18 career record in primetime games:
2-10 on MNF
3-4 on TNF
5-4 on Saturday/Sunday Nights

So he's basically a .500 QB on Thursdays and Weekend primetime games.

At an individual level, on Saturday/Sunday night football (9 games):
Completion % above 70%
302 passing YPG
22 TDs
4 INTs
Those numbers are a lot closer to ELITE than they are to "terrible".

On MNF, where he's 2-10 now, his stats aren't great, but they're also not terrible:
63% comp pct
240 passing YPG
17 TDs
11 INTs

Now you can make the case that situationally he struggles, but these aren't numbers of a guy who plays in the fetal position for four quarters in primetime. Comically TNF has been, by far, his worst performances, yet his team's record is significantly better there than on MNF, where apparently he sucks balls all the time (though not really).
some of these numbers go back to his time in Washington and Washington is pathetic on home MNF games going back a couple decades (since Fedex). That being said, it's not all on the QB and I believe that is what you are getting at.

Numbers never tell what really goes on.. if anyone watches kirk play, they know he really fks up at times. Very possible to have good numbers and still fk up just like you can have bad numbers and still win the game.. brady just did it the other week vs rams. Shit lamar always does it. My eyes>stats

the reason people are pissed is because irsay literally talked about how he looked at former players for whatever reason and used that as his justification for bypassing everyone else on his staff

and that's the main reason why people are pissed about them not hiring reggie wayne - because based on irsay's own justifications it made more sense - no one would care if they hired bradley or fox - that's literally what they would have been expected to do and should have done
I just don’t get it. I hate Irsay immensely but he owns the team. Owning an NFL team should mean that you can hire anyone you want to coach the team, it is yours. I understand the Rooney rule, but that is really a formality that was put in place. Saturday is a close friend of Irsay and Irsay has gotten football advice from Saturday and must have liked it decided, hey I think he may be a decent interim coach. If he likes him, that is all that should really count. If Saturday sucks and there is enough backlash to where it hurts Irsay financially, trust me, he will make a change. To be honest, I thought that Saturday going back to Matt Ryan was a good move. Saturday, so far is 1-0. With all that said, you all know, I hate the Colts with a passion, and want to see them crash and burn every Sunday.

Am I crazy? The commentators are saying Hurts gets the ball to his guy on time. I swear more than half his passes float in the air sooooo long

I actually love Kirk cousins to backup your romo point. I have always thought as him as a top in Minny and would love for them to make it out the nfc this year. I think what's crazy with Kirk is how good he consistently seems to play and preform during day games. his night game stuff wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be so thx for finding that research, but the Monday night one is hilarious lol

Rodgers stats looks good in playoffs but unless you actually watching, you wont be able to see how different he plays..

Rodgers is one of the most overrated qbs of all in my opinion. regular season hes good when he beats up the shit lions and bears every year but honestly I truly think Big Ben was a better career qb. as much as I hate that rapist. he is one of the most clutch players of all time

I think Big Ben was severely overrated also. I hate that rapist as well, but I'm not sure he was better than Rodgers. Although, I'll concede that his winning isn't commensurate with his fame. I also think he is a QB that is stats-aware at all times. As an example, he would rather take a sack than throw the ball away to help his completion percentage. He does this over team needs sometimes.
