The Random Thought Thread

What's that based on? Does Dobbins have some extensive track record of fumbles? You do realize Ingram has fumbled at least twice every season for the last 6 years? Volume plays a factor, but he hasn't really been that high of a volume runner in several years either.

Dobbins has more explosive plays AND actually contributes in the passing game, which Ingram doesn't. At this point, Ingram's best attributes are pass protection and veteran leadership. Even Gus Edwards is running laps around Ingram's production through 4 games.
Dobbins does contribute more in passing game but thats literally it. Idk maybe you see something that i dnt because i dnt see anything in dobbins right now to have me thinking that he is playing better than ingram

1. Belichick is largely a defensive coach.
2. You are the first, only, and last person to ever suggest that Josh McDaniels is the best OC ever. Not even Belichick or McDaniels himself thinks he's the best OC ever.

I think I'm now realizing that you're just trolling. Like 50 year old drunks at Applebees wearing their varsity jackets aren't even this dumb...
Def not trolling. Mcdaniels is for sure the best oc that ive ever seen. Easily the best in nfl since he has been with pats, so thats what 15yrs? I was also the only one to say arod is still a top qb and look where that got me lol. Since you base everything off stats just look at mcdaniels run he has had with pats lol.. you dnt even have to look qt anything if you watch the patriots or football in general.. id bet that his numbers as an OC is better than and more consistent than 99% of OC’s ever.

You lost me at "I don't know what to say". There's a reason I mock people when they talk about the "eye test". Its because most people are blind and don't know what they're looking at to begin with.

This is a good case of that.
No, i really just dnt know what to say. Its obvious that youre relying on those numbers to prove your case while i actually watched and said last year that he was still a top 3 qb and was proven right therefore i really have nothing to say. Like im really not biased regardless of team or player so im gonna go with what i know over what anyone says, idc if BB or sean payton said arod was washed, i still wouldve betted with arod lol.. Not saying i know anything cause i really dnt and i ask a lot of questions here to certain people when i want and need info but the point is, idk how people got it wrong with arod last year. New oc, often injured adams along with terrible wrs who couldnt get open. His team core is still bad this year imo but it seems like theyre on the same page more often now.

Idk if McDaniels is the best OC ever, but he's clearly been one of the better OCs since he took over. Now HC is a different story. You definitely don't work for BB if you don't do your job lol. Just watch the Patriots sb story from 2 years ago and what he did to adjust his scheme during the season and in-game when playing the rams.

Again just because they are starting doesn’t mean they’re good players we just don’t have players that are better than them on the roster. Queen has been downright awful in coverage. Tyree seems like a reach in the 3rd round right now especially when guys like Damien Lewis and Michael Onwenu have been playing extremely well over the first 4 games. This board is full of Raven homers who just can’t admit that this players are playing bad RIGHT NOW. I’m not saying they can’t get better, but through the first 4 weeks they have not been good.

if you actually read the post i wrote you'll see that i went into more than just saying "starter"

Tyre Phillips has looked absolutely fine the last 2 weeks and that was despite the fact that this week he was stuck between DJ Fluker and Skura still coming back from his injury - he's had some mauling run blocks and has got better in pass pro with each outing - he's still got some issues but for a 3rd round pick who'd never played guard to be here by now is a good sign for sure - idk what you were expecting with basically the last pick in the 3rd round???

damien lewis wasnt available when we picked and michael onwenu was a steal in the 6th round and would have been a great pick if we'd taken him - but just because some other team hit on a day 3 pick doesnt mean that our 3rd rounder hasnt panned out just because he didnt grade out as the best guard in the league in week 3 according to PFF...

Phillips actually played well against KC (it just happened to get lost in the murk because we got bounced out of our own building)

Patrick Queen has had problems in coverage but he's not been awful - he's made a few mistakes but that's going to happen with a rookie LB thrust into the mike linebacker role - he had a great game against the run and has the speed to make up for it when he makes some mistakes in coverage - he's been beaten a couple of times on wheel routes the last 2 weeks and he got benched for the end of the KC game but to say he's not played well completely ignores the fact that he's made numerous positive and splashy plays through 4 weeks which is exactly what we were hoping for at this point - he's showing us the highlights and they're coming fairly frequently - what we need to see is more consistency - he'll get better in zone drops as he sees more time on the field

im not a ravens homer in the sense that i think these rookies are infallible - i see the flaws but making mistakes doesnt make a rookie a bad player - i just am struggling to understand how you can think they are playing badly - most of the team had a terrible day against the chiefs but otherwise many of the players have had good games and that includes the rookies

Dont forget the one vs falcons.. ill never forget how he picked on falcons cb mills i think.. like he literally knew that guy just would never be able to find the ball lol. Mcdaniels could probably get one of us to 500 yrds in a season lol

No because aaron rodgers was still good lol media made it out to be like he was falling off when if you watched you can clearly see that he still has everything. If you make a list of the best qbs of the season and have lamar 1 cool, but every overall qb
list ive seen had aaron rodgers outside of 5 dam near..Like people had more faith in brady than rodgers when brady has clearly showed signs of regression when arod showed none other than an offense we arent used to seeing
Well see you just said top 5, earlier you said top 3. If it’s the offseason and you’re judging off of what you saw in the 2019 season, then Rodgers was top 5, but not top 3. The top 3 last year was any rotation of mahomes Russ and Lamar, Rodgers was pretty firmly sitting at 4 and you’d probably put brees at 5. I get that Rodgers was good last year, he just wasn’t that “put him automatically at the top” type guy he’s always been, he did have a good year but it looked a little low for his standard after the September dominance. Yes the coaching drama and age and everything all started to raise questions, that’s probably why the media disrespected him so much, I’m not, I’m just saying he wasn’t in that top 3 last year, that top 3 was its own class.

Im saying most had him outside or in top 5 when imo shouldve been top 3.. i dnt mind seeing people put him outside of top 3 based on play last year because ofcourse lamar but to say there are actually 3 qbs better than him is simply not true.

Well based on what we had all seen recently, yes it was true.

it’s like you’re ignoring what the league looked like last year and thinking back to the early-mid 2010s and letting him coast by off of that. Saying Rodgers belonged top 3 last year isn’t much different than saying brady or brees or Ryan belonged in the top 3. It’s based entirely off of what they did in their primes and just assuming that they will be playing like that again. And shit by this time last year Rodgers had a stranglehold on the mvp race, but come December that thought was just laughable, so even if he is playing like he’s top 3 right now we’ve got reason to pump the brakes on him because of what he has done on the field recently.

If it wasn’t for chase young who is an all world freak and will probably break records, Patrick Queen would probably be in the DROY drivers seat right now, and that’s with a terrible prime time performance to his resume.

dobbins has been a stud who hasn’t been a focal point in the run game, harbaugh always has been notorious for favoring his veteran starters over rookies when possible, when he’s got Mark Ingram he definitely will favor Ingram over a rookie, and as long as dobbins avoids mistakes he should get more touches as the year goes on, but he has looked like the most explosive player on the team even on plays where he gains only 2 yards because blockers were trash. RBs are hard to grade when they don’t get carries, but he’s made quite a bit of his chances, showing some incredible individual efforts.

Actually those numbers are just a piece of the pie. You don't even have to take my word for it. Just ask the Packers. You think they traded up in the first round to get a QB because they think Aaron Rodgers is going to be a stud for 5 more years? You think all of their offseason acquisitions were designed around taking the ball OUT of Rodgers hands more?

If you really don't know what to say, then its better to say nothing at all.

to win DROY you either need to be consistently high level or you need frequent flash plays or great stats - makes it really hard for a middle linebacker to win unless they've got all-pro level type play (like darius leonard) or tons of turnovers - queen's got 1 so far

CJ Henderson had the splash opening week (but probably wont be remembered when voting happens but he's got a chance to make more of those
Derrick Brown's been good but is unlikely to compile enough sacks to be competitive
Isaiah Simmons has been pretty awful so far

tbh the defensive rookies really havent done crazy well this year so far outside of chase young

all the biggest impact rookies have been on offence so far for the mostpart

So in other, much shorter and less argumentative terms, you agree that it’s young vs Queen lol

Barring some injury or some freak situation, Chase Young will be DROY. He’s too good.
As for this stuff about our rookie class, I mean these are rookies without any preseason in the most unique offseason I’ve ever seen. Quite a bit unfair to judge them yet. I thought Tyree was as much a reach as the next guy but gotta give these dudes a bit of a break. I believe Marshal Yanda told a story how he entered the league and sucked and eventually became great after one bad game.

Good as lamar played last year i still wouldnt have picked him over arod on my team and i honestly doubt anyone else would have. Yes he played great last year but at no point was he or anyother qb in nfl outside of russ and pat were a better qb than him. Some maybe played better but we know who arod is what he really does on that field. If metcalf and lockett got hurt for russ and all of sudden his numbers drop a little bit, yet he still looks like the great qb he is...... are we really gonna sit here and say someone like josh allen is better than him? Cause thats how i feel arod was treated last year

whose been better than mcdaniels since he has been oc? I dont even think there is a debate for it tbh. This dude somehow got the least athletic qb of all time to convert qb sneaks at dam near a 99% rate lol. But honestly i cant think of an OC better than mcdaniels. I know its only been 3 games but cam is completing 68% of his passes, his career avg is 59%.. mcdaniels is incredible man.

lol he's had 15 carries. A rookie with no preseason. He needs more carries now, will help the team out long term.
