Ravens Ring of Honor
I know we don't need him but CMC in this offense would be fun to watch!
But in reality you take Donald and you never look back.
Donald on this team would make us the greatest defense of all-time, no cap.

Wrong. That would be 2000 Ravens, strictly talking franchise defenses alone
Adding Donald to this team would at least put the defense in the same conversation. Not even the 2000 Ravens had a secondary this loaded (you could give them the edge in Safeties tho) so adding the best defensive player in football to our DL would cause some major problems. The only weakness we would have compared to the 2000 team is our LBs.
You have to account for the state of the league when you judge the best of all time though. A 2021 defence doesn't have to have the same raw stats as a 2000 defence to be considered better.Doesn’t matter man. The way the league is set up, no amount of talent on defense will ever be able to do what that 2000 defense did. Now I will definitely agree that it would be our 2nd best defense, and a hell raiser
Right, but that 2000 defense, specifically, also wouldn't be nearly as good in 2021, given how they were built. Assessing strengths and weaknesses of offenses and defenses across generations or decades usually doesn't work, for this very reason.Doesn’t matter man. i actually like that 06 defense the best. If we would have won that SB, it couldve possibly went down as of the best also but instead only a few actually rememberDoesn’t matter man. So factor in league changes. I mean it’s all based on opinion anyway since were comparing different eras, but I think adding Donald to this defense, theoretically if all 11 stay healthy, it probably would be a superior defense, the numbers just won’t reflect it because it’s a different eraDoesn’t matter man. I don't think we will ever see a defense as good as the 2000 Ravens. I believe the Broncos defense in their SB year was as close as we could possibly come in an era where teams are passing the ball as much as they are. The 2000 Ravens and the '85 Bears are the best defenses in the modern era and I believe they will always be the two greatest and the standard teams try to emulate.Adding Donald to this team would at least put the defense in the same conversation. So, in fairness, this isn't really true...I agree. I do think it is smart to account for the new league rules/play style but when you have a defense that led a miserable team otherwise to several wins including playoff wins/super bowl, when the offense didn’t even score a SINGLE TD for several games... that’s just mind blowing.
What also gets underrated about the 00 Ravens is that they were out on the field a LOT. The offense was going 3 and out a shit ton. Yet they still rose to the occasion
What you’re leaving out is that the defense afforded them their opportunities. The offense was In fact pretty bad, but they had perhaps the best OL in the league, they had a pair of absolute stud RBs, they had burners at wr and a reliable possession style TE, they had HORRIBLE qb play that basically crushed their ability to pass the ball, but everything else on that team created opportunities to at least skate by and appear average. So, in fairness, this isn't really true...
1. The 2000 Ravens offense was 3rd in the league in average drive time (time of possession, essentially), first in field position, 8th in average # of plays per drive, and 20th in yards. So the offense, compared to the rest of the league, was actually on the field a lot, but they just didn't move the ball that well when they were on the field.
2. They were 14th in points scored, 16th in yardage and were top 5 in rush attempts and yards, as well as being 8th in YPA.
So basically, it was your prototype "ball control" offense. Hold the ball for awhile, run the ball, and let your defense make plays.
From a statistical perspective, in terms of points scored, yardage, 3rd down conversions, etc., the 2000 Ravens offense was average. It wasn't bad. It was just average.
06 defense could play in any era and be successful..might not be better stat wise but id honestly choose that defense to play for me 10/10How anyone says the 06 defense may be better than 00 is way beyond me. Our 00 D led us to SEVERAL wins all by itself. Excluding the McNair hungover playoff game, our offense that year was the best it ever was OUTSIDE of the Vinny/Flacco/LJ8 eras,

Well they kind of tried that. It was called 2001. It didn't work out so well...Imagine if they DID have great Qb play, or at least competent. Marc Bulger, Rich Gannon, Brad Johnson, etc even... that whole damn team would have been like a Madden team on Rookie lol
