I think a team would surely give up a 3rd or much better for Flacco. You don't even trade for back up QBs without giving up a 3rd these days! Flacco will be a starter somewhere so I expect a good trade value for him.i wouldnt even give up a 3rd for flacco. He is only slightly better than bortles. Gotta understand that once flacco is at that los, everything is up to the OC cause flacco isnt gonna make the necessary reads nor adjustments and thats why he usually dont see the wide open guys in his face.
Nah we are a QB away to an extent. If Lamar pans out that changes the trajectory of our entire team. We have Stanley and Brown to build around and Yanda* who could retire but still. We need a C but I actually like Hurst as a G so I think we really only need to draft a C. I don’t mind what we have for LG right now unless an elite guy is there to take. Otherwise I’d rather get a RB who can complement Lamar because those two will make the passing game easier since teams must then sell out to stop the run and we can pass. Key is Lamar has to show he can pass and I believe he can as I’ve seen him improve. So we are a QB away in that it depends all on Lamar because if he’s ready it changes everything.
Absolutely. That's the type of team that Joe is perfect for and that's who we were years ago. We were that team that was a QB away and once we got Joe that put us over the type. Right now this team is not good at all from top to bottom.
to say that he is slightly better than Bortles is a lie and discredits the success that Joe has enjoyed. When Joe became Joe he did not have the luxury of playing with a top 2 defense AND a top 5 RB.
Joe in Jacksonville with a healthy Fournette would be DANGEROUS.
Yeah good point. Joe would be a good fit in JAX but they would need to rework some deals and possibly his own to fit him in there. I think Joe wouldn’t be bad in TB either. They may be a fit too because of Winston. I think a team with a good run game or OL and a very talented WR with a good TE would be a fit. I don’t think the very good defense is required but definitely a top WR and a good TE.If I am a team with a defense and a RUN GAME then I make a move on Joe F and trade a 2nd rounder. Think about it
Defense is an interesting topic because they played well and now they aren’t. Lots of ways you can explain that. Could be injuries and it could be that they aren’t good and were made to look like a false prophet. We’ll see this year. That is the case but that's what you would hope for. I think he's going to have a ressurgance soon since that's the trend for Joe but it's the end of the line anyways. We would have to make the post-season and he would have to go off in order for him to stay but that's doubtful atm. I think his time here is done.
I think the defense is ready for a major downfall. Like we're going to see them struggle badly soon and it's the trend for them during this time of year.
I wouldn’t say we’re not good but we have a lot of issues. We either have talent that never became what we hoped it would or we have old and talented players on their last legs. That’s a big issue and it needs to be remedied.Absolutely. That's the type of team that Joe is perfect for and that's who we were years ago. We were that team that was a QB away and once we got Joe that put us over the type. Right now this team is not good at all from top to bottom.
I wouldn’t underestimate the impact a QB can have on the entire team. I say this because it can change the entire dynamic of the team. Position of strength? I’d say CB is a position of strength but we are talking beyond this year. I still think it is however and disagree. It’s not like Marlon has a long injury history. We’re discussing next year right? So why does it matter about Humphrey missing a couple games this year? Smith is a concern yeah but he’s still getting his feet under him and he’s coming off an injury and two suspensions so don’t discredit that. We have Young too who has looked good and bad this year but he’s still held promise. I don’t think our S are elite but that’s why I said CB corps.A QB away from what? Making playoffs? I don't think making the post-season would be all that great of an achievement when what this team really wants is to contend for a title more then that. I think the standards aren't that high to make it given who has been making it the past couple of seasons.
I don't think we are a QB away from anything. What position on this team can the unit really hang their hat on? Offense? You don't have a run game, your OL is solid, your WRs are solid but look better compared to the atrocity you had last year and your defense itself has issues that are unraviling. We all thought the secondary would be a supreme strength of the team but Jimmy isn't the player who is he fully capable of being, Carr is solid but not elite, and Marlon is the only guy you hope to have out there but he's missed a couple of games and isn't 100%. There's no pass rusher that you can trust to get a sack when it matters most and this DL is not as good as we hoped because they're getting worked. No coverage in the middle of the field from the LB and while Mosley is good he has a few of his downfalls as well. TJ and Weddle as a duo has been a disappointment and the run game has issues at the 2nd level. Special Teams isn't even good atm.
I don't think there's one place this team can identify as a strength right now. They're just good, solid or average at most places. Every team that wants to contend for a title does something that a very select few can do themselves.
He's a massive upgrade over Bortles. He can at least have some really good games once they add a WR or two. He might stink up the joint for a couple of them as well but he won't be the liability that Bortles is. One thing Joe has done this year and credit to him for it is take care of the Football. He's cut down on the turnovers so if he can above average then he can take a team like the Jaguars or Broncos deep.to say that he is slightly better than Bortles is a lie and discredits the success that Joe has enjoyed. When Joe became Joe he did not have the luxury of playing with a top 2 defense AND a top 5 RB.

I'd like to see more. I thought it was helpful.I'm looking for feedback on the article I just wrote. If you all could comment or reply. I'd really like to know if this is something you all would like more of in the future.
@RavensMania @rossihunter2 I appreciate you all who read (I haven't forgotten you @purplepittabread88). I am unsure of how often I'll be able to do these because it does take a lot of time to write up and then combing through the All-22 to find a play that not only is the coverage I'm looking for, but also shows quality coverage. But I'm gonna shoot for like every other day. I have six more planned at the moment.I'd like to see more. I thought it was helpful.
A QB can change a team but it depends on what we get from it. We would need an elite QB to push this team to contention and the chances of that arriving next year is very low because this team isn't good enough to the point where even a good QB can get them anywhere.I wouldn’t underestimate the impact a QB can have on the entire team. I think we have very good OL building blocks in Stanley and Brown and I think you can win with James Hurst just not outside. We may have an AARP Yanda. We do need pass rush but we do have Tim a Williams so hopefully he continues to progress. As for DL I would say Pierce is good and Williams is okay but the rest are playing OK. I don’t think they’re playing awful it’s the LB getting exposed in coverage and the edge losing contain. We need to improve RB but I like what we have at TE. I would’ve preferred James for S but I have hope for Hurst and Andrews has looked great.
As for this year, I don’t know about this year and contending. I think we have potential but that’s because the rest of he league is struggling too. I do think we can make a push next year with the right moves.

Who thought Mahomes would be playing like he is? I’m saying I have no idea what Lamar will do next year if we can Joe and go with Lamar but hey man it’s possible. Yeah Chiefs looked good early last year but they lost Peters and stuff and people thought they would take a step back but they are on fire. I never said we have a very good OL I said we have a very good building blocks for the OL—a huge difference. We have work to do to be a very good OL. I agree that we have a good OL though especially in pass pro and I think this OL can look better with a mobile QB like Lamar making it easier on them than Statue of Joe back there. I think you misunderstood my point so maybe that’s my fault but I’m not saying we have a very good OL only that we have very good building blocks. I agree on a Brown Jr but I think he’ll be fine with Lamar because of his mobility as I said.A QB can change a team but it depends on what we get from it. We would need an elite QB to push this team to contention and the chances of that arriving next year is very low because this team isn't good enough to the point where even a good QB can get them anywhere.
I'm not sure of a very good OL, maybe a good one but that's really the cap for this OL even if you add a new C. I like Orlando Brown Jr and think he can be a huge piece for us but let's pump the breaks and see how his development progresses over a full 16 game season, last game was a big start for him so things may be looking up for him. You got Stanley who is good but not yet a premire LT and most likely playing hurt alongside Alex Lewis who has been a liability this season. Yanda is the only stud on this OL and for a very good or elite OL you need more then one Pro Bowler there.
I think the CB group is in trouble because you have Marlon who is good and might turn into a top flight CB soon but Carr might be seeing his last year here and Young as you pointed up has had his ups and downs. To go along with that, Jimmy's status is murky. The injuries has caught up to him IMO and a 3rd suspension could put him out for the season or the large majority of it. I think the issue for me mainly is not just that he's battling supensions or injuries but age as well. He will be turning 31 this upcoming season so who knows when father time arrives and with the injuries it could very well arrive sooner rather then later. I'm not sure he sticks around beyond this season.
I think what you pointed out about this teams are units that are good but nothing special. We're looking forward at potential and we know that every time we have hope for something to break out, it just manages to disappoint us. I don't see any unit on the team where I feel confident that we are great at. As far as the TEs go, I need to see more from Hayden Hurst before I can feel good about it. I'm a big fan of Mark Andrews but I think to point out the unit as a strength we would need more from Hurst who was your first round pick.
fournette isnt a top 5 RB.. im not discredting joe but even at his peak he was an avg qb. We have had plenty of good defenses with joe and still came up short.to say that he is slightly better than Bortles is a lie and discredits the success that Joe has enjoyed. When Joe became Joe he did not have the luxury of playing with a top 2 defense AND a top 5 RB.

Definitely agree on Fournette.fournette isnt a top 5 RB.. im not discredting joe but even at his peak he was an avg qb. We have had plenty of good defenses with joe and still came up short.
No this came direct from a conversation between Chris Carter and Chris Canty. I do know you said some of this stuff and you said it before I saw the clip. You read this in the media? I swear I said this like yesterday but I didn't even read or hear this in the media so that's why I ask. I'm just wondering because maybe that validates my belief unless you read it here from me then never mind. I just thought that's how Steve would approach it--reduce the amount of immediate change and also see if he can do something with Lamar and then kick him to the curb if not. Only issue is it puts you behind the 8 ball in terms of coach search if you really like a guy this year.
Frankly I think Tampa Bay would be his best bet. They want to move away from Winston and Joe would offer them that opportunity over Fitzmagic.Yeah good point. Joe would be a good fit in JAX but they would need to rework some deals and possibly his own to fit him in there. I think Joe wouldn’t be bad in TB either. They may be a fit too because of Winston.
