The Random Thought Thread

I am in absolutely no way saying the decision to move on from Flacco was a bad one. This is just a completely tangential thought. I really feel that Flacco's potential was wasted here in Baltimore. He was a guy who had tremendous upside bit I think the combination of a million bad coordinators, really didn't help his development, but even moreso did nothing to help him shine during his opportunities. I guess what I'm saying is it is refreshing to have Roman as our play caller and not Cam Cameron or Marc Trestman or Marty or Jim Caldwell.

and to build the offense around him. Something that we didn't really do well around Flacco. I'm sure we all wish Flacco well.

It seems like the FO has learned from its mistakes and is going to do their best to surround Lamar with talent. I suspect that we'll work on the OL next off-season to keep him protected.

We have a lot of money and agree I'd like to start improving the offensive line, especially with Yanda at or near the end of his career. However I'd love to sign Yannick Ngakoue. The Jags don't have the money to keep him.

dammit i love ravens reddit

We are going to have to win our division to ensure we make the playoffs, you don't want to overreact to week one but it looks like the Wild Card would be a tough get if we were to not win the division.

Two thoughts: I really like what EDC has done so far. It is a shame that the one coordinator that was suited for Joe left after our Super Bowl.

ESPN did their weekly power ranking and bumped Ravens all the way up to 8 so it seems like they are not above respecting what the Ravens did so long as they do not have to mention it on the air.

Flacco looked like a statue in the pocket last night. He has little mobility anymore. If you have a weak oline your QB needs to be mobile.

Pocket passers can only survive if they're absolute masters of their craft (Brady, Brees, Rivers)
Look at Mayfield, he thrives off of chaos. He made his best plays when the pocket broke down and he's still a good from the pocket.

Flacco had it, e.g. the pass to Boldin in the Sb. But I think injuries fd up and he's scared to get hit.

Well he didn't have it for long.

"Oh, It's Just the Dolphins" excuse

Let them underestimate us all season long and we will come in for the surprise attack every week.

GO RAVENS

2 things:

1. The dolphins are bad, terrible in fact.
2. The ravens executed their game plan, almost to perfection. They did not play down to the competition, and they kept the pedal to the metal.

I would think we will be able to better measure this team in week 3.

You play to win and if the other team is that bad you have to dominate it which is exactly what Lamar did.

The excuse would be we beat a soft a chiefs defense...

This is COMPLETELY random, but I have a thought for the random thought thread

I think the ravens and chiefs are gonna end up the next great out-of-division rivalry. Here’s why:

It started last year, mahomes in year 1, Lamar in his 3rd week. Highly contrasting teams playing a heart thumping game that went to OT, ravens and Lamar made a statement that day, chiefs squeaked out the win.

This year, week 3(just like Lamar’s 3rd week last year), still contrasting teams, 2 QBs that many consider the leaders of the new school along with baker, except now that run first team from last year can legitimately go shot for shot with an incredibly explosive roster and coaches to maximize it. The chiefs are gonna be the most explosive offense in the league probably for the better part of a decade, and it appears only one team can slow them down, the ravens. They will hang 30+ a week on everyone and make defenses look silly, but the ravens will kick their asses with defense and then go score for score with them on offense, we will be the only team that can do so. while they outscore anyone at will, they have to stop our offense AND defense and will have trouble consistently doing so, and a lot of high stakes, heart pounding, back and forth games will result.

I just have a feeling that week 3 is gonna be an EPIC showdown and will set the stage for the dawning of a new great rivalry, one that’s gonna define the first half of the 2020s for the AFC
