The Random Thought Thread

It might sound like a cop-out, but I would probably give McCaffery and Wilson co-MVP if the season ended today. They're both carrying their teams right now and putting up ridiculous numbers. In the end though, I think Wilson will probably end up getting it especially since the Seahawks gave him another weapon in Josh Gordon. It also wouldn't surprise me to see McCaffery slow down a bit as the season wears on since he's been used so heavily.

not saying this is how it should work but MVP is given to qbs normally because they are the missing piece that your team cant operate without - take those players out of those teams and they get worse but is there a player more valuable than lamar jackson for what he does for the ravens and our offence and the scheme and even the defence?

just for the sake of argument...

Lamar being selected for AFC offensive player of the month tells me someone else noticed it's not all about stats numbers (although Lamar stats are nothing to sneeze on).

i think we still havent seen hollywood full speed but the fact that he was running over 20mph on some of his warm up runs when he was getting back to fitness - you think the 3rd highest speed tyreek hill has hit was about 22mph then we're looking at some special type speed here but we might not see it til next year when he has a full healthy offseason
That’s what I’m saying, I’ve seen this dudes speed on tape before and it’s way more than what we’ve seen in a ravens uniform, I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if he was the fastest player in the nfl, and that’s putting it mildly, I’m more inclined to say that I think he IS the fastest player in the nfl and he just needs to get healthy to prove it

I think it's a valid argument, but Wilson is just as valuable to the Seahawks as Lamar is to us. I'd also say that if you took Wilson away then the Seahawks would be a lot worse off than we would be without Lamar. Who's the Seahawks back-up? At least we have RG3 in the event that Lamar misses time. Sure, the offense wouldn't be the same, but RG3 is arguably one of the best backups in the entire league and I think the offense would be able to stay afloat. On the other hand, if the Seahawks lose Wilson then I think their entire offense probably falls apart at the seams.

I think its the combination of acceleration and top end speed thats really makes it eye popping, the only guy Ive seen who is comparable is Tyreek Hill.

i dont know - i think you're vastly over-rating RGIII vs the rest of the backups in the league

Perhaps, but Wilson's backup is Geno Smith. Do you honestly believe that the Seahawks would be better off with Geno than we would be with RG3?

i think its not a great situation for either team - but fundamentally our offence would change without lamar even though RGIII is still a mobile qb, the seahawks offence would not change at all - it could still function as it has done just less effectively - our offence would likely stop working

there is no way our offense would work the same. Totally agree with you.

I'd feel much more confident in RG3 running a more traditional offense than I would in trusting Geno to take over for Wilson. The Seahawks have already played extremely close games for most of the season WITH Wilson so I think they would just fall apart and start losing most of their games. At least RG3 would be able to keep us competitive and now that our defense is playing better, I think we would still be able to win.

But how do you know? What has Bob done/shown that makes you think we'd be competitive with him?

It was also mentioned that we're averaging more yards per drive than the 2018 Chiefs and 2007 Patriots right now. Unbelievable.

Eric Mangini will come around one day. Even if he doesn't though, that's no big deal, because Jackson will continue to produce, both as a runner and a passer and the longer it takes him to admit it, the stupider it makes him look, although that doesn't take much.

Eric Mangini wasn’t that impressed by Lamar Jackson & the Ravens win over the Patriots

"If this is how you want to play football, and you want to take your QB and turn him into a running back who also happens to pass every now and then, then that’s great. You can’t sustain it."

Mangini can eat a bag of ducks. We're one of the most efficient offenses in the league and dont care what any of these asshole analysts have to say. They keep asking how sustainable it is into his second season not realizing we keep opening the passing game. The rest of the league better pray Lamar doesnt maintain this work ethic because I'm pretty damn sure were setting Lamar up to be in control of one the most explosive offenses the league has seen.

Our game plan seems to be test out a few things early then eat clock 2nd half. The one game it wasn't very successful only seems to be the Browns and everything flipped when Ingram fumbled. Some might say the Chiefs but we started off awful and still climbed back. As long as a game is within two scores were in it with guys back healthy.

Anyway, just enjoying the ride and watching this team grow.
