That was 2014, he got injured later in 2014, his stretch of play from the super bowl run, up until his 2014 injury, is some of the most slept on corner play ever, he was essentially blanking the leagues absolute best week in and week out.

From what i remember.. Dez couldnt get any separation whats so ever. However, i still think because of his physicality he can contribute in some way on our team. Cant be any worse than boykin was last season.

If he can win 50/50 jumpballs theres a spot for him here, we need someone like that as a compliment to our speed. That and I dont think much of Boykin.

Another player who’s been forgotten about in all the hype around our defense is jimmy smith. Everyone is so buzzed about Humphrey and peters, that they’re forgetting that you can count on one hand the number of teams that wouldn’t have healthy jimmy as their top 2 corner.

Feels like his name has been tossed out there a lot in the first 3 days of camp. I love the idea of jimmy smith getting to face lesser receivers on basically every snap, while the top options are shut down by our 1 and 2. Jimmy seems to have gained a shit ton of skill and savvy in the past 2 years and his physical tools seem every bit as intact as they’ve ever been. I’m expecting a nice year from him. Does it sound impossible to have every starter in our secondary in the pro bowl?

Only reason I ask is because we've seen specifically in this offense, rookie rbs tend to fumble and with such high aspirations, I could see us being conservative. Granted in my "conservative" hypothetical that means mark taking like 40% of the snaps, JK like 30%, and the last 30 going situationally to gus and justice.

If he's performing like I think he is then he might force his way into starting reps by the end of the season. My guess is it comes down to how well he can block and pick up blitzes.

And to jump into the Jimmy conversation, that man is HUGE for a cb.

It'll be interesting to see.
1. I don't think Ingram getting 200+ carries a again will be that great for the offense. He hasn't shown much signs of slowing down, but that's a lot of carries for somebody at his age and with his career usage. I can't see that happening again, unless there's multiple injuries to the other two backs.
2. I don't think Lamar will get 175 carries again either. I think he'll drop down to maybe like 9-10/game, so down closer to 125-150 perhaps.

Justice Hill had 58 carries last season. It'll take an injury, or two, for him to come close to that number. If the Ravens were really pressed for roster space, it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't make the team or got released/demoted mid-season. If Dobbins is as good in the passing game as he's been advertised to be, Hill doesn't really have any skill sets on offense that others don't. Maybe contributes on ST.

Handcuffing for 400 RB carries this year, I think Edwards will get somewhere around 80, with Ingram/Dobbins largely sharing the rest. Dobbins getting 8-10 carries/game + passing down work I think is a foregone conclusion.

what does starting really mean in this offence tbf? he's going to see a lot of the field and i think all 4 of the RBs are gonna see decent touches but it's perfectly possible that Dobbins ends the year with similar or more snaps than mark ingram - we're gonna ride the hot hand and keep momentum and let the offence stay in rhythm if it's working and if that means stretches of dobbins then we'll keep dobbins on the field

which rookies have we seen fumbling a lot? we saw gus and lamar fumble the exchange a few times in their rookie seasons but that was more due to the offensive exchange being so new and unpracticed than a rookie thing

maybe ive vanquished any such happenings from my memory but the only back i can remember us having with a fumbling problem was alex collins who wasnt ever a rookie as a raven...

for what its worth there were positive signs on his tape with regards to pass pro - some misses but also some really nice hits and there's a clear willingness on his college tape to be good at it

from what ive seen of the LB RB 1v1s is that he's done pretty well in those pass pro things - but the hardest thing for a rookie is always going to be reading it against live fire rather than the block itself

It’s gonna help that dobbins comes from a zone read offense and comes in with more experience at the mesh than Ingram had when he arrived

Completely agree and just as Joey just said above, Dobbins will be coming in with a lot of experience in this area. I'm super excited about him in this offense.
