The Random Thought Thread

This is kind of how I figured this would go. Think the Ravens liked the player, but at their price. Would think they were under $10M if it ever reached an offer stage.
Sounds a little bit like he was waiting for us to bridge the gap some... I would imagine this defensive scheme was the one he wanted to play in to give himself the best chance to cash in, and the team overall probably gives him the best chance at a ring.

damn shame we paid Earl last year, we probably could’ve made it work otherwise

That titans defense was already built to beat us, and clowney is the ultimate weapon to stop us. I would’ve been down to kill our cap just to keep him away from afc contenders

The exchanges I've had with Sarah Ellison on twitter have started to annoy me. She drinks too much koolaid for my liking, I guess thats why shes popular and Preston is hated for being objective.
same here, although I don't listen to or read what Preston writes. I only follow 1-3 beatwriters

great vid. are we all on the bowser train now?

i wasnt until halfway through watching the film - i started with seattle and houston and came away with some things i liked as an edge rusher but wish he'd do better or things i wish he'd put together

and then later in the year against the jets and browns especially but also the 49ers in the rain he looked so much smoother and i was hyped

a few things i left out of the video just because i didnt want it to be too long but he looked pretty decent setting the edge in the run game when i saw him - obviously he was at fault for the long chubb touchdown in week 4 (a lot of players screwed the pooch on that one) but for as little as he played on early downs he looked pretty good in those limited snaps

the other thing is he seems to like a spin move that he's tried a few times but not really got working perfectly - he gets good timing on it but not quite enough force with the arm as he comes out of the spin - but yet more positive signs that he's not only becoming a more natural pass rusher but that he's adding more moves to his repertoire

Bleh. It’s a gift and a curse having a good team because we’re so low on cap. Hopefully we can sign Von on the cheap next offseason.

Eh, we took care of his ass in Seattle.

We really need to start worrying about the OLB position. Let’s say Bowser balls out and gets close to double digit sacks or surpasses it. That’ll mean he’ll price himself out of here and we ain’t re-signing Judon regardless. That leaves Ferg and??? Honestly would be all-in on drafting an OLB in the first and signing Von if he’s cheap. God I miss that Elvis/Sizz duo

part of the problem is that we've only drafted 1 EDGE in the last 3 draft classes - that was after a run of 3 draft classes where we drafted 5 EDGE rushers and had hit on ZDS and then Judon in consecutive years (and hopefully bowser makes it 3 in a row)

would have been great to get a young guy in this year's draft but no-one was really worth it whenever we were picking - the ravens clearly didnt like aj epenesa the way some of us did and he was probably the only one who i ever thought was BPA when we were picking

which means next offseason will be interesting
but that's months away

So what will we do if Bowser and/or Ferg contribute next to nothing across from Judon this season?

Problem: salary cap. We don't know if the NFL is going to in-/decrease it (and how much). We also have to figure out who we want to re-sign out of: Andrews, Humphrey, Stanley, O.Brown and Jackson.
