I honestly think that if we dont make afc ship vs kc, our season was a waste

Could only accept a loss to KC in the AFC even with the Stanley injury. Might accept a loss to another team but that leans heavily on how we lose. Some BS like the Titans last year, Steelers or KC, then I have serious questions.

reminds me a lot of New England last year - a defence that looked historic but really just has been beating up on low level competition

the only difference is there arent many good teams on the Steelers schedule to bring them back down to earth

Steelers have such a cakewalk schedule. Hopefully we'll put up a better fight Thanksgiving night. Other than that, the Bills and Colts are the only teams that should really challenge them. Then again, Dallas challenged them with something called a Garrett Gilbert at QB so I guess you can't discount all of the other low level of competition either.

The way Burrow is slinging it, the Bengals could give them trouble next week.

I agree though, on paper they likely finish as the #1. KC is a better team, but they still have TB and NO, I think they split those two games. LV and LAC gave em trouble too.

I'm generally against forcing the ball to someone, but yeah, I think you need to try to get him more involved. Going to be even harder to get the deep game going with the state of our OL right now. It's just so hard because Hollywood avoids contact as much as possible, which I get because he's not a big guy.

1: We don't have a personnel issue and the offenses trouble is due to Lamar not executing and hitting the consistently open guy given what the line is giving him for time.
2: The defenses are selling out to shut down Andrews, Hollywood, and our outside runs and we have not been able to adjust and call and execute the right plays to take advantage of what they're giving up.

I think Lamar has had his moments this year where number 1 is true. And in those moments I think everyone including himself would tell you yeah the struggles there are in him. However, I think our biggest issue is number 2. We have a DECENT, offensive line, an extremely mobile QB, a track team around him, and willing blockers at TE and WR. If the defenses sell out on any 1 or 2 things, we have the POTENTIAL if we can diagnose it to call the right play that we know can be executed with our team to achieve the desired goal. I feel like we just haven't adapted our philosophy. The last 2 weeks second halves have been better than their firsts, but I don't think it's a good strategy to stink up the place every first half to come out and hope you can turn it around second half.

It's both. Teams are definitely playing Lamar differently this year - there's a spy or two on nearly every play, so they're forcing him to throw the ball. With that, the OL is not playing well right now, so he hasn't really had time to make those throws. His clock is sped up and he isn't reading the field well, and his mechanics are suffering as well. Those are all very related things and kind of explains the offensive ineptitude so far.

But the 2nd half was a good barometer of what we probably should be doing going forward - working in plays to get the ball out quick and Lamar in rhythm. It's not going to work every time because the OL and Lamar are still struggling, but it's a step in the right direction to mitigate some of our current personnel issues.

Well, couple things:
1. Lamar wasn't just bad last week. He's been average or worse for many weeks. Plus Lamar's struggles were very clearly the difference in the game. The Bucs defense was largely the difference in the game last night, not Brady's poor performance.
2. Lamar is the reigning MVP, and Brady is considered "washed up" by league circles. So one has higher current expectations than another.

For context on Lamar...

His last 6 regular season games (Ravens are 4-2):
Passing:
58.5% comp pct
172 passing yards/game
6.3 YPA
8 TDs, 4 INTs
Sacked 15 times

Rushing:
6.6 YPC
61 yards/game
3 TDs
3 fumbles lost

So if you really think about it, the last 6 weeks, he averages about 233 total yards/game, about 2 TDs and 1 turnover per game.

Over the course of a season, you're talking ~3,700 total yards, 30 TDs and 16 turnovers. Not exactly world-beater type numbers. You could do a lot worse, but you could also do a lot better.
Especially when considering that, in 2019, he had ~4,300 total yards, 43 TDs, and 8 turnovers... with one less game.

Really have to give the defense credit. They have been playing their ass off minus the Chiefs game. This isn't like years prior where Lamar just kept them off the field. Best defense we've had in a while.

Wouldn't rush Calais back. Let him come back when he's fully there.
