Houston sports is in shambles, Texans suck. Astros just lost the World Series and the Rockets suck. I just find it some good karma that the Braves won the World Series after the whole All Star Game debacle and the game being moved from Atlanta.

Not sure if he has any prior criminal history, but I would suspect like 8-10 years would be the floor for this, given the gravity of the crime. He's not really rich enough or even high profile enough to get that much of a reduced sentence either.

If his gun is registered he will be fine on that but you are def correct with the 8-10 yrs.. my guess is that he take the first offer they give him which will likely be 8-10… dam i forgot about the dog, they may add an additional 99yrs for the dog

They are going to stack chargers an easily get him to 20. Doesn’t help his case that the victim died because she was stuck in the car, it caught fire, and burned to death.

I mean maybe. I don't think the fact that she burned to death is really that much different than if she died on impact. It would matter like if he fled the scene and there was a perception or evidence that he could have potentially saved her or helped her out somehow, but I haven't seen anything suggesting that to this point.

The death is an issue, the super high rate of speed, both at top speed and at crash impact, will be a major factor against him, and obviously, the DUI. If he had been doing like the speed limit (or even a little over) and this happened, the punishment would be less severe. The recklessness of the driving speed and the area he was doing it in is going to be something a judge/jury will certainly hold against him.

Whether or not the gun is registered will play a role also. Having a loaded, unregistered gun, while probably not the worst crime in the world and normally wouldn't carry like a prison sentence, is only going to hurt his "perception" of the kind of person he is at trial.

wait, there was a dog also. I'm not so sure the 99 additional years would be enough.

This team, today? It would be either Suggs or Reed. Need a playmaker on defense in the worst possible way.
For me:
Ngata really didn't have as much impact as some of these guys, and wasn't an elite pass rusher
McAllister I personally felt was never that great of a Corner. Pretty good, but I don't think another Corner solves the major issues on this team.
A lot of people would probably say Ogden, but this is a top 5 offense in the league even with the Olineman we have, so I'm not sure he's like a gigantic difference maker.

Basically leaves you with Ray, Ed and Suggs. I wouldn't take Ray because, while he was a pretty good coverage linebacker in his prime, I really just don't think inside linebackers have nearly as much impact on the game today as they did when he was around.

If I had to choose between Ed and Suggs, in today's game, it would probably be Suggs. In his prime he was an elite of the elite pass rusher, and he was a high end run stopper. We don't really have somebody who can do both on this team, and our issues with pass rush are well documented. Reed is tempting, because we seemingly don't have a ball-hawking playmaker in the defense right now, BUT, I also think teams just wouldn't throw deep on him and attack the perimeter and underneath.

This is a great question and most difficult to answer but I would go with Ray cuz this defense needs a general. His pursuit. His passion. 2nd to none. To me the best MLB ever to play the game. Even better thana the best name ever to play the game. Dick Butkus.

A judge/Jury is human and the type of death will make a difference if they are shown pictures. It’s a highly emotional experience, especially when you think of the suffering.

In my experience It’s far less painful to lose someone to something like an IED blast because death is instant and not much is left behind. Guys that get shot and suffer while bleeding out is another level of misery.

That last part is a great point, at which point I’d say maybe ray is a better pick because he was dangerous in middle of the field coverage in his prime
 
Reed or Ogden. The offense is performing but we've seen this numerous years now. Offensive line does enough or looks good regular season to look pedestrian in the playoffs.
 
I gotta go with Ed. He’d shut down one side of the field and our Corners are serviceable enough but Ed can hide their flaws (excluding All Pro Marlo of course. He can hold his own).

OK, but unlike previous years, the defense is as bad as its been in years and doesn't look like it's going to be able to stop anybody in the playoffs either.
 
I think Ngatas impact is underrated. When a DT significantly improves run defense it also puts pressure on the opponents passing game.

I think the problems on defense can be solved with current personnel but that might be the optimist in me.

Think they are still adjusting and trying to figure out everyone's roles. Cleaning up tackling I'd assume drops us a significant amount in points and yards.
