Just as you say they pass more these days different era and all that, but back in Alan page days there were no quick release offenses, it was run, run, under center deep drop and bombs away on third down, no shotgun, no moving pockets, no complex blocking schemes, and the average offensive lineman was 50 lbs less than the average OL today. Back then, the great players absolutely dominated in a much weaker pool of talent, they stood out easier, today it’s a prerequisite to even make it in the nfl outside of qb/k/p to be a world class freak athlete, so much so that players who would outsize and outrun athletes in every league in the world flame out in the nfl every year.

and considering Baugh to be anywhere close to Brady further proves my point. No qb who played in those days could hold Brady’s drawers
