The Random Thought Thread

i mean maybe - i dont think it will impact lamar's negotiations though + if it's going to happen and they just havent announced it yet... they'll have talked to lamar about it anyway
Yeah and if not then Lamar gone. You don't bring in an OC or retain an OC without your franchise QB involvement in today's NFL. If you do, that's a bad idea from the player perspective.

And with all of the drama, I'm sure any OC candidate is going to want to know whether he's going to have Lamar or someone else at the helm. It's why all of these decisions need to be sped up a bit this year.

you're making the massive assumption that lamar wants GRo gone lol or cares at all about who his OC is...

Lamar's a major stakeholder in the decision - they wont make it without at least touching base with him

only reason they wouldnt tell him/consult him is if they're already trying to get rid of him

Actually I think it was during the “team summit” in Florida, which usually happens before the SB, if I’m not mistaken. Also I think they couldn’t agree on terms of a one year extension, so I’m thinking that was more of a mutual firing, if you will. Or at least that is what Shefter had reported.

Well I have no idea how Lamar really feels about Roman, but i can imagine he might feel better about being a raven if he was fired. But you’re right, when it comes to the bottom line business is business.

I don't know what Lamar thinks, yes, but Lamar may feel more comfortable if he truly is overrated and knows it, which I don't believe. If Roman stays, then the finger-pointing doesn't go to Lamar, but instead Roman. Also Greg Roman thread for this convo????

Eh, I don't think it's a massive leap to say he cares who the OC is. Do you think if Lamar hated Roman and disagreed with him a lot we would have Roman or Lamar here? Harbaugh doesn't operate like that from what I have seen. Sure, you may have hard feelings but if there's some great difference I think one of them is gone. I have no idea if there is or isn't a difference. I do think the QB cares who he OC is, regardless of the QB. If not then Lamar would be very atypical of a person. That most certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility but I think the former is more likely than the latter here.

And yes, if the team wants Roman gone they likely wouldn't consult Lamar--they would make a decision. If they wanted him here or hired someone else then that is probably a different scenario.

No knee jerk here. I never expected us to win and I'm not upset that we didn't. All I wanted from this season was for coaching changes to be made, to enable us to genuinely compete next season.

GMs usually live or die by their QB decisions and, whatever happens, EDC has badly messed things up with the star QB he inherited.

"Should have beat" does not equal "beat". The last 10 years of Ravens football have been all about being just good enough to have a plausible excuse why we didn't succeed, but never good enough to actually succeed. The organization is stale and complacent across the board.

I'm not denying that DeCosta has built a competitive roster, aided by a great final draft class from Ozzie. I think DeCosta has done well enough to keep his job but he hasn't done enough to be as completely comfortable as he seems. He should be entering the off season aware that he needs to make changes to the way he builds the offense roster and he should be given a chance to show he can do it differently, for a new OC.
EDC inherited a star QB? He was instrumental in drafting Lamar to begin with, he didn’t inherit anything. Lamar also wasn’t a star QB when he came here. His successes in 2019 were at least due in part to having a great run game and OL that allowed him to fulfill his potential.

EDC has consistently given Lamar tools to succeed aside from having star WRs, im tired of people acting like OL, TE, and RBs don’t matter. Taking all those positions into account Lamar definitely has a lot of support

With regard to coaching, his philosophy seems to be to hire the right HC and allow them to make other coaching decisions. Imo that’s how it should be. If Harbaugh got fired here he’d get hired by the end of the business day

I posted some conflicting pff stuff the other day. So not sure what's right but this says he was the highest graded safety in the league this year
