of course you can lose, but if you are naked and are patient. Most of the times a stock will recover. A good one anyway.

Also if you are selling calls and a stock blows up you'd be ridiculous to buy it back at that point. Just be patient and wait for the stock to come down. Many times it does, but not all the time. I never sell naked calls, but I do sell naked puts.
