and we lead the league in ints and turnovers...
Exactly. Steve B is no fool. Unless Pees has a falling out with him, I just can't see it if we continue to have this form of "success."

Right, forgot that. I just feel like our defense isn't anything special when we were aiming for dominant. I don't hate Pees but I don't see him taking our defense to the next level even with all the talent he has now.

oh we arent dominant but if we could consistently get teams into 3rd and longs/obvious passing downs and unleash our newfound edge rush speed on defence / unleash some more creative/deceptive blitzing then that could be the final key to turning our defence into a no go zone for opposing offences
And I agree with both of you guys. Especially with the preseason, anything less than a top 5 defense would've been a failure (outside of the top 10 is a COLOSSAL failure). BW's absence really hurt the run defense more than I thought, but it's improving now. Heck, the Browns were sturggling to run the ball on us before he stepped out. Hopefully our defense continues its streak of not allowing a QB to have a great game against us well.................except Bortles.

that of course is true - and outside of stafford and big ben we dont really face a good qb the rest of the way to week 17 but we also have a habit of making backup qbs to look good against us for stretches even if overall they still arent great - i was way too nervous watching EJ Manuel, mitch trubisky, case keenum, kevin hogan against us

Hogan really had me worried, but thanks to the Browns, he got benched. I actually dread the next Browns game more than any other game left on our schedule.

how come? kizer is pretty entrenched as the starter still and they will gain very little by playing hogan - we're more likely to see cody kessler than kevin hogan

Yeah, it’s ridiculous how we can’t make these qbs look against us.

ozzie needs to draft/acquire playmakers at the skill positions. watching juju shuster begin to take off pisses me off because every wr ozzie has drafted has underachieved aside from torrey but he was a only good for deep balls. to make the playoffs all of our cast offs must step up beginning this sunday against the packers

I think what we have to remember is every wide receiver the Steelers have drafted the past 5-6 years seem to have had major success. The only reason that some tail off is because they tumble down the depth chart from others. They do a fantastic job of coaching at that position.

Yes, but he’s only drafted two wr in the first two rounds since Flacco was drafted. Perriman and Torrey.

engram has to go at seasons end. poor route running, dropped passes, lack of physicality not only should fall on the players but engram as well. hope the bye week was used properly

It's sad when they draft Antonio Brown in the 6th, Wheaton (now on Bears in the 3rd), JuJu in the 2nd, and Bryant in the 4th.

All over the draft board they find guys who come in and play major roles. We can't even have a physical freak in Perriman come in and have a strong hold on his job.

And let's not forget guys like Sanders and our very own Mike Wallace. Oh yeah then there's hines ward.

agree 100%. this has been going on since 1996 so something must be done at some point to improve this.

I do agree Engram has to go. However let's not pretend the ravens problems at wide receiver are mostly cuz of the WR coach. It is mostly poor direction and terrible drafting!! The offense was almost in place. Ravens fronted one of best guard tandems in NFL history. A very good center that should of played center last year. And the NO.6 pick in the draft which would give the team its pick of 2 very skilled left tackles. Which would give the offense arguably top5 players at their position across the line with only a RT to find. To front the most dominant OLine in the NFL including the cowboys. Especially if we drafted Cam Robinson. That would be an all time great OLine!! Find a couple of WRs and the ravens could control games through slow methodical drives resulting in TDs and control the clock and flow of the game. While tiring the opponents defense.

However the team opted for a box of bandaids of cheaper aging vets with a little left in the tank to patch up draft busts. AND to go against the grain of what the team was already good at to take their chances in the draft to try and build a dominant defense. So pretty much management attempted to minimize the need for joe Flacco than put a team around him and help him put points on the board??

The ravens are so pathetic on offense and at drafting receivers partially from scouting and to a lesser degree coaching. But probably the main culprit is the attention it gives the offense. It waited til its back was against the wall before drafting a WR in round1. The team is unwilling to part with picks to get the players it covers. So the ravens plan was to draft it highest rated WR once on the clock. Which is rarely ever a good idea to zero in on a position late in round1. Cuz often the drop off in skill from one player to the next at the position is quite vast. So it waited til there was no functional speed on offense to draft a receiver. And rolling with 2 Undrafted WRs. And the regurgitated plan of which ever receivers are thrown in the trash every year!! As opppsed to taking the position serious every year!! And drafting a skilled WR when one is available in the draft. If WR was on the priority list it wouldn't have overlooked Allen Robinson, Diggs, and JuJu!! Ozzie and his squad says it's open to Wide Receivers. But the truth be told it's only open to drafting a WR when an early round2 player falls to round 4. Then it will take the receiver. But in reality if it's close between the WR and defensive player. The ravens are taking the defensive player. And displays the attitude we will take that receiver if he is available next round!! Which is totally absurd. And the culprit behind the offense sucking so bad!! Cuz no friggin late round1 early round2 WR is going to be there in round4!! If you want him you have to take him in round2.

Perriman is a bum and he was a reach cuz it waited til it was desperate for a WR. As opposed to always on lookout for drafting a good receiver when available. And picking Robinson over Jernigan. And JuJu over Bowser who is a bust if you plan on him being a good 3-4 edge rusher. The ravens were clearly favoring defense. Of all those picks only Humph is making any kind of impact and it's a limited role. I'll believe he is a standout when the ravens put him on JuJu with with very little help. But Williams and Bowser don't look like have the tools to beat NFL tackles yet. And Wormley is a total loser!! A waste of a draft pick

i definitely agree that there has been a good amount of questionable picks/decisions by the front office. when you invest so much into the qb it would make sense to surround him with the key components but this team has been so obsessed with the defense yet the dc they have does not know how to get these guys to be the dominating defense that they should be plus they cannot afford to keep the good defensive players they have developed due to poor contracts and always restructuring contracts of players that have lost steps

I mean Antonio Brown is historically good - he’s playing wr at maybe a better level than any wr ever the last 4 years - he’s already got more yards than 14 HoFers and he’s only 29...

That inherently makes anyone they bring in a viable option - I mean, hell, until this year Sammie Coates looked like a real nfl player - juju is legit though and that frustrates me so much because I was so high on him during the process
