Joe Flacco

That argument you’re making is completely asinine

you dont agree that its easier to look good against bad defenses then it is against good defense?

i mean playing against the colts defense compared to the jags is a world of difference....

flacco played horrible against the play off teams we faced this season.

had he played better we could have won.

nothing to be confused about.

But what’s that got to do with how Ryan played yesterday? If anything Ryan was a mess - he threw 2 gimme ints that Julio Jones had to play defence for, he had some other bad throws and led the falcons to 6 punts on their first 7 possessions...

What annoys me is that Flacco probably shouldn’t have even played in the first half of the season. The back injury obviously lingered and hindered him greatly. Either Harbaugh is just a moron or they really, really didn’t have faith in Mallet to start a few games. I wish we would’ve started Mallet at the beginning of the year, because even though he looked very bad in the pre season, he couldnt have been worse than Flacco was before he picked it up.

But it’s not the colts d vs the jags d - it’s the steelers d vs the ravens d by the metrics your using and tbh there isn’t a huge difference is there... no one was saying bad defences but you said the difference between top 5 and say the 12th and I’ve just given you the 2 teams who fit those parameters: steelers and ravens...

Absolutely never ever please let us start mallet - he’s a mess of a qb - he’s just about ok in a pinch but as a full-time starter- no no no no no

eagles are 1 of the best defenses in the league.

he did pretty well quite frankly.

i mean if julio did not slip on the last play we might not be talking about this...

steelers D was bad in 2014 ....

nothing like the eagles D of last night

also not sure what the ravens D has to do with any of this.
also its adreme metric not mine....

Eagles D last night was #4.
Steelers in 2014 where #18.

1 was a top defense, the other wasent.....

i cant understand how they took the risk with him tbh.

his back problems could have gotten worse with al the injuries on the o-line.

Time to recognize? With all due respect Tank, anyone who hasn't recognized this yet is clearly lost. One of these pass-catchers MUST be a TE because Maxx and Boyle aren't doing enough tbh. They're just.......slow lol.
Right, lol. Mine was more of a tongue in cheek post to state the obvious given some of the dumb remarks that continue to show up. And to your point, seems there are still a few around that are “clearly lost”.

Flacco is not the entire team. Hard to judge him when he wasn’t healthy in the first half of the season. If he was healthy we most likely win those games.

Neither where a top 10 defense in terms of yardage.
Yardage is what adreme uses to rank defenses.

Pats where #13 and Steelers where #18 in 2014

Eagles are #4 this season.

Last time flacco did great against top defenses in the play offs was in 2012.

top to me is 1-5 for the record.

So i did not forget 2014 and actually looked it up.

Yardage is not what "I" use to rank defense, it's what every writer commentator and analyst uses to rank defense. When a team is said to have "the 4th ranked defense" that is the stat they are referring to to make that statement. I assume you didn't realize that but don't attribute your ignorance as my oddball stat choice.

Secondly, do you realize how much you just moved the goalpost? Now not only do you need to play well in playoffs but you also need to happen to play against a top 10 team (something you do not control) in order to get any credit for playing well in playoffs.

they use more then 1 stat when talking about how good a defense is.
heck in the vikings game they kept yapping about the vikes 3rd down defense all game long.
nobody except you only look at yards.

i never said that nor meant that.

When any writer commentator etc says "This is the 4th ranked defense in the NFL" they are ONLY using the yards stat. When they use other stats they specify those stats but when they rank defenses at the end of the year and say who was the top ranked in the NFL they use yards. I am going to assume by your disbelief that you did not realize that but its the stat they use. Whether it is the best stat or not is open to debate but it is the stat they use.

Note how in your own post you talk about how the announcers specified "3rd down defense" or when they talk "scoring defense" or any other category but when they just say "X team has the 5th ranked defense in the NFL" the number they use for that overall ranking is yards.

This is a correct statement

it's exactly the same on offence too and has been for as long as ive been a fan of the nfl and probably much longer

2012? Are you completely forgetting the 2014 NFL playoffs? 259 yards and 2 TDs against the Steelers, and then he gave us a 14 point lead twice against the Patriots in Gilette Stadium only for the defense to blow it.
he also threw a bad pass last drive to end the game
