Joe Flacco

I was going to say that I can't remember ever wondering which of 3 QBs would be starting on a given weekend. Not for the Ravens, not for anyone for that matter.

Well - I kinda had the sense that Flacco was out from earlier this week, but still wasn't sure. I think that became a little more certain today with the doubtful designation. Still, I can't say I really know between RGIII and Lamar. I think its a toss up.

Its an interesting decision for Harbaugh. He seems to be loving it.

well ill go one better

have the ravens ever lost flacco for a game and been excited about the qbs behind him - excited enough to expect to win a game without flacco...

Put it this way... if patriots were a college team, they would have the top qb,wrs and olinemen coming out every year just like bama does. Those guys all look immaculate for Bb but we all know dam well 90% of them arent even half as good outside the system.
Except Roll Tide guys are.

Working backwards through the most recent drafts:
  • 2018: Minkah Fitzpatrick was worth his draft spot - and we'll see how ronnie harrison and anthony averett do (3rd and 4th rounds respectively)
  • 2017: Marlon Humphrey was worth his draft spot, Eddie Jackson should have gone higher than the 4th round (he was the highest graded safety in the NFL through week 9)
  • 2016: fair enough cyrus jones was overdrafted (although that was obvious at the time to every team except new england apparently)
  • 2015: no db drafted
  • 2014: HaHa Clinton-Dix is a pro-bowl safety, Vinnie Sunseri (who?) was a 5th round pick and is now out of the league...
  • 2013: Dee Milliner was a flat out bust
  • 2012: Mark Barron - drafted as a DB but his career is as a linebacker (he got a 2nd contract as a linebacker too - so probably shouldnt be on this list tbh)... Dre Kirkpatrick has been worth his draft spot (and 2nd contract), Dequan Menzie (who?) was a 5th round pick and is now out of the league
ill stop there because im pre-superbowl now lol and it was hard enough going back and looking at courtney upshaw being our first pick in the draft that year...

so there's my list of every drafted db since 2012 from crimson tide...

i see 1 overdrafted corner, 1 flat out bust, 1 who changed position, 2 late round picks who were non-factors... and that's it for the negatives - so really only 3 negatives at most really (and one of them worked out just at an unexpected position - and one of them is still in the league but as a returner)

on the flipside you've got 4 first rounders who played up to their draft spot so far (all are still in the league), a 4th rounder who's playing like someone drafted in the 1st round and a 3rd and 4th rounder who are rookies with not enough snaps to make a judgement on yet

if you look purely at the most recent years (where trends come from) you'll see that contrary to your opinion, bama dbs seem to have a particularly good transition to the nfl
2015, Landon Collins?

I’d say a shocking number of ravens fans have gotten excited every time Flacco got hurt. It’s Flacco you’re talking about. Baltimore’s Rodney dangerfield. The same huge portion of the fan base who was literally saying to put Tyrod in in the middle of the 2013 playoffs.

Minkah hasnt done anytning yet lol, clearly wasnt the best cb in draft like everyone thought.. hump, swear this man is overrated by this fan base
Wasnt white picked after him? .. haha is an avg S and thats a fact, so we avg players are what we want in 1st rnd, thats cool.. Mark barron was terrible at S. Not one single bama defenser has lived up to the hype. Collins, is pretty decent. Now thats a decent 2nd rnder that i wouldnt mind.. rest of them since nick saban era have been nobodies..

Except Roll Tide guys are.
yea like who? who is actually a good consistent player from roll tide? Not mosley, hump, haha, collins, kirkpatrick, tony brown, none of those guys lived up that hype nor are they consistent.

Dont remember much from jones nor ronnie harrison in college so idk about them. Dont think anyone really expected them to make a big splash like that

they get excited about flacco being hurt true - but do they expect us to win in his absence?

i dont know what you've been watching because minkah has been brilliant as a rookie (also was never thought of as best cb but potentially best db)
humphrey has been brilliant in year 2 and has become the clear number 1 corner on a team with jimmy smith on it... (and yes white was picked after him... so what? humphrey's been great)

you're telling me not a single bama defender has lived up to the hype (specifically you mentioned dbs) but i literally just gave you a list (and even forgot to mention landon collins...)

mark barron was a terrible safety that's true - it's why i mentioned that he got paid last year as the weakside linebacker for the rams (where he has been playing for the last 2 years at a high level - it's why i basically discounted him)

you're literally trolling me though right? i gave you a list of somebodies...
Minkah, Marlon, Jackson, Collins, Haha, Kirkpatrick

Everybody but Trent Richardson and Dee Milliner
And that idiot Terrence Cody

Marlon has been great? Lmao. great is t white.i said minkah hasnt done anything yet cause its early and when i watch dolphins game its really notbing going on neither side of ball so i gave him a pass. I usually dont care about pff stats but i know you guys do.... minkah is 4th graded rookie cb, however that same list didnt even have donte jackson on it. None
Of those guys listed are consistently good as expected coming out and how a 1st rmder should be

ok a list of good consistent roll tide players from the last few drafts incoming:

  • 2018 (already there are some rookies who've made impacts): Minkah Fitzpatrick, Da'ron Payne, Calvin Ridley, Da'shawn Hand
  • 2017 (here it gets really good): Marlon Humphrey, Jonathan Allen, OJ Howard, Reuben Foster, Cam Robinson, Ryan Anderson (seems to be making the leap), Dalvin Tomlinson, Tim Williams (when healthy), Eddie Jackson
  • 2016: Ryan Kelly, Derrick Henry, A'shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, Kenyan Drake
  • 2015: Amari Cooper, Landon Collins, TJ Yeldon
  • 2014: CJ Mosley, Haha Clinton-Dix
there are a multitude of players from the 2018 and 2017 drafts who may still progress
and it's crazy that you dont think mosley, humphrey, haha, collins, kirkpatrick are good consistent players...

humphrey has been great - he's been better than tredavious white this year...
minkah has done incredibly well as a rookie - why do you think he hasnt?
minkah may be the 4th graded rookie cb - but he doesnt purely play cb... the fact that he's the 4th best rookie cb in their grading system when he's not a full time outside corner tells you he's probably pretty good

i was talking about dbs, but what about hightower and mosley? are they good lbs to you? Cause theyre avg to me. I like payne and allen though. Only seen one game so far and theyre constanlty putting in work. but those dbs from bama, have not lived up to all that first round hype is all im saying.

Not an all pro = not a good consistent player

Ive been talking about dbs from bama this whole time lol.. dont think ive ever mentioned anything else other than dbs whenever we talk about this

mosley has been disappointing this year - he's had a terrific career and been a pro bowler and 2nd team all-pro 3 times...
when dont'a hightower doesnt play, the new england defence often falls apart likewise when CJ is out for the ravens...

Ive been talking about dbs from bama this whole time lol.. dont think ive ever mentioned anything else other than dbs whenever we talk about this

yes which is why i gave you a list of dbs first
but that post was literally a response to one in which you mentioned CJ Mosley... so you literally brought up the other positions - i just responded lol

i liked minkah as a S coming out.. my problem with him was at cb. Hearing all this hype about him being the best cb, yet everytime you watch him, he is getting beat at cb.
