Working backwards through the most recent drafts:
- 2018: Minkah Fitzpatrick was worth his draft spot - and we'll see how ronnie harrison and anthony averett do (3rd and 4th rounds respectively)
- 2017: Marlon Humphrey was worth his draft spot, Eddie Jackson should have gone higher than the 4th round (he was the highest graded safety in the NFL through week 9)
- 2016: fair enough cyrus jones was overdrafted (although that was obvious at the time to every team except new england apparently)
- 2015: no db drafted
- 2014: HaHa Clinton-Dix is a pro-bowl safety, Vinnie Sunseri (who?) was a 5th round pick and is now out of the league...
- 2013: Dee Milliner was a flat out bust
- 2012: Mark Barron - drafted as a DB but his career is as a linebacker (he got a 2nd contract as a linebacker too - so probably shouldnt be on this list tbh)... Dre Kirkpatrick has been worth his draft spot (and 2nd contract), Dequan Menzie (who?) was a 5th round pick and is now out of the league
ill stop there because im pre-superbowl now lol and it was hard enough going back and looking at courtney upshaw being our first pick in the draft that year...
so there's my list of every drafted db since 2012 from crimson tide...
i see 1 overdrafted corner, 1 flat out bust, 1 who changed position, 2 late round picks who were non-factors... and that's it for the negatives - so really only 3 negatives at most really (and one of them worked out just at an unexpected position - and one of them is still in the league but as a returner)
on the flipside you've got 4 first rounders who played up to their draft spot so far (all are still in the league), a 4th rounder who's playing like someone drafted in the 1st round and a 3rd and 4th rounder who are rookies with not enough snaps to make a judgement on yet
if you look purely at the most recent years (where trends come from) you'll see that contrary to your opinion, bama dbs seem to have a particularly good transition to the nfl
