Joe Flacco

Mostly backups and depth players.

Here's another fun fact: Tom Brady has played 80% of his games with a defense ranked inside the top 10 and has played less than 5 with a defense ranked outside the top 10 in the playoffs.
I always knew he played on teams with better defenses, but that is staggering, This is why I don't think it is so clear cut who is the better qb between Manning and Brady. There is no question he is one of the GOAT. I also have a hard time comparing players, especially qbs from different eras.

For me, it's Manning all the way. The guy changed how quarterbacking is done. He was the first and most impressive field general that the game has ever seen.

I will agree that Tom Brady is obviously not your average quarterback and he's pretty damn good, but New England has won 70% of their games without Tom Brady over the course of 20 games. That's not a small sample size and it goes to show that the winning metric isn't an end all be all.

I still rate Manning and Montana above Brady mostly because of tge Belichick factor, how many rings would they have won separately?

i lean towards Manning as well for the exact reasons you stated, but I really don't see a 20 game sample size as significant when you look at the consistency the patriots have had over the years. That being said, they have been in an extremely week division for Brady's entire time in the league. Put the Pats in thr AFC North and the record isn't as good.

Bill Belichick is a key ingredient and it will be interesting to see how the Patriots fair when Brady decides to retire. I will truly feel sorry for them when both BB and Brady have retired. Then again, no I won't.

Again, I'm a big Montana fan and if I had to compare qbs from different eras I would rate Montana better also. However it's a totally different game from when Montana played. I was lucky enough to see him play many times.

Thats a good point, athletes are better now but are they more skilled? The league today is much more pass friendly than it used to be as well, recievers and QBs were ruthlessly mugged.

The game was definitely more fair for the defense. Some of the cb used to hang on the WR since they didn't have the 5 yard rule. It was in 1996 when the league started to enforce this rule more stringently.

The Packers are pretty consistently in that 7-12 range in PPG rankings. They've fallen off a bit lately because of poor secondary play, but they are overwhelmingly one of the most well rounded teams in the league.

New Orleans I can agree with. Sorry excuse for a defense year in and year out.
High octane offenses can offset the game so much that defense numbers get inflated due to facing desperate 1 dimensional offenses and ToP. Idk if numbers back that up but everytime I watch the packers they look horrible on defense.

It has definitely inflated sack numbers, I wouldnt be surprised if the record falls this season. It reminds me of how people would pump up some scrub leading the tackle count on a bad run defense.

It's a pretty consistently good defense. And they generally have a stable running game they can lean on.

He's had some bad defenses recently with the decline of Clay Matthews and the piss poor play of the secondary as a whole, but it's not the norm for the Packers. They are generally one of the league's most well rounded teams.

Fun Fact:

Joe Flaccos qbr inside the numbers in 2016 is 131.2 about 50 more than his overall 2016 qbr. I'm not a fan of qbr as a measuring tool, but this was interesting,

Championships aside, Montana will always be the "GOAT" to me! Personal preference.

Before I say anything, let it be known I have been a huge Flacco defender and supporter dating back to 2010 (when I became a fan). But atlas, I truly think it is time to look at guys in the draft. The second pressure comes anywhere close to him, the play is over. I watched many other teams play today, and the way young guys can move around is great. If I see even one lineman struggle, I accept that Flacco was sacked. He never even gets rid of the ball. He stands there and looks like an idiot. Now may I remind you I am not calling for Flacco's head. I just think we need to look at a qb in the second or third round. Someone who can come in a year or two and be quality guy. I'm tired of Flacco not giving a fuck and knowing we won't do shit about it. What about a guy to scare him into not throwing an INTERCEPTION in NINE STRAIGHT GAMES!!!!

While I think Flacco has struggled a lot more since his injury, I think the team just needs to invest more picks into offensive playmakers. This offense has never been the same since Rice left. Why? Because Ray Rice made teams question what the team was going to do in the passing game and the run game. The team needs someone that they can lean on that will show up each week. Even if Flacco was replaced today for whatever reason, I don't think there are many quarterbacks in the entire NFL that could come in here today and look our offense look like stars.

Not with this offensive line.
