The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 1 Edition

That is why he is saying you are high. Either that blind or watching the wrong game. There was pressure constantly and it was dictating every decision that happened that game.
Yeah, our front was walking entire Bengals O line back into Dalton all game.

. You follow the ball and nothing else.

Truth be told it is difficult ( based on camera action ) to really watch much more than the ball. ( I said difficult, not impossible )
But yeah, just about every play Dalton was a face in the crowd. It kept Green out of the game for the most part.

I think we can confirm today that Andy Dalton is the greatest quarterback in Ravens history. He did so much to win the game for us. Well done. He's awesome

Maclin said that Flacco audibles the TD today according to Jeff Zrbiec or whatever the fuck his name is.

Well, Flacco had one good play today and it was absolutely crucial.

Then again, all we needed to do to win the game was kick a FG so....

Shades of Playoff Flacco. Speaking of which, the league better pray our o-line doesn't improve in both departments as the season progresses.

Just watched it so
The good - Obviously the defence, the O-line (including Howard - what was everyone worried about), the commitment to the run, special teams, even Flacco - he didn't look great but I was so much more confident with him in there than Mallett.
The bad - Letting Mizzell go. With the injury to Woodhead we don't have anyone who can step into that role.
The ugly - Well, Ryan Jensen is not an attractive man but he played OK so I won't be unkind.

Yeah seriously. Flacco hasn't had receiving corps this talented since our super bowl run. And our defense hasn't been this talented since 2011.

And that makes the play even more impressive. Looking back on it, the Bengals had 8 in the box. Rushed 7.. Jeremy Maclin was going against Dennard in Zone coverage. Watson picks him, and leaving Maclin with open space is a mistake for any defense. Hopefully we can ease Flacco in more, and get him some more creative stuff in.

And to those who said, "we got no pressure". Did we watch the same game? We usually had someone in Dalton's face. We clearly got into his head. Kizer may have a better oline surrounding him, but he's a rookie QB who holds the ball for a really long time. I don't think next week is a gimmie, but we could still make his life hard.

It was one person who said that and he's probably the worst poster here

It's that Lost in Translation Bastard isn't it? God fuck that guy. Seriously, he's a perverted dickhead who needs to get a life.

He knows nothing about football. Why do people listen to him?

It was man across the board, not zone...

And here's the thing, I didn't think Maclin had that kind of speed? The 2014 defense was probably the closest because of the front-7, but the nonexistent secondary........was something we need to forget about. Even though we didn't have a 100+ yd runner, I was really impressed that the team did especially on that front-4.

Pick plays like that generally only work against man.

Good on Flacco for recognizing man and exploiting the coverage. Good on Watson for laying a dynamite legal pick.
And good for him for actually calling an audible against the blitz. Too many times last year where I banged my head against the wall because he did nothing to prevent the pressure from getting to him. Which is probably why I had a massive brain fart and forgot the simple differences between man and zone coverage. I'm going to go wallow in the corner and drink myself to a blackout now for my shameful dumbassery.

Maclin is both fast and quick. Underrated explosiveness. In terms of pure speed, Perriman or Wallace can probably out run him, but he's so good in the open field and after the catch. He is the perfect fit for our offense and god I hope we can keep him.

He has good quick twitch muscles.

To me this resounding victory - a shutout makes it all 'oh so good'! But, if I must break it down then:
Good: Defense, Run Game
Bad: Flacco and O-line penalties
Ugly: Andy Dalton

Ronnie struggled with lawson today. Hope stanley is just shaking off the rust/injury because he didn't look too awesome out there. Jensen was good aside from his stupid penalites. Howard was really good today1
Yeah, Howard was very good today especially in the run game. I agree Stanley had a rough day, but I'm not worried at all.
