The WR Thread

So, going back to WRs for a bit:

Ishmael really stands out to me as possibly the best receiver we could get in the third or fourth rounds. The catch at about 1:04 in particular really shows off his body control and ball awareness. And at 1:30 there he is beating Ramsey. We really need receivers that can make those kind of catches.

My thought exactly. As much as I would like a great route runner and competitor like Ridley I fear we would not be the perfect enviroment for his development.
As you also say, we desperately need people who can play the boundaries and win jump balls more than anything else. Past Boldin we had none of that mold and that drastically reflected on Flacco level of trust on backshoulder throws.

Cain would be a perfect fit and value but I fear he won't be there in the 2nd: some of those teams grabbing QBs early will also need to add weapons (Giants, Jets, Cards) and others whose young passers will also need to be supported (9ers, Bears)..
Other day 2 nice options are also Auden Tate and StBrown, although very different players.
I find it hard to predict Ishmael stock.. I don't think he will be there by our 3rd RD comp but I wouldn't place him in the same Cain, Chark tier either.

We need to come away with one of Ridley Cain and Chark. In most drafts Cain and Chark are round2-3 players that have no.1 WR upside. But this wr class pushes then to top 40 picks. So we get them in a trade back or trade up to early round2. I wouldn’t bet on Cain and Chark being available mid round2. Then management would grab next best receiver. And blame the scouts if he wasn’t as good as Cain and Chark.

I've been thoroughly impressed with Cedric Wilson at the Senior Bowl. He didn't get a lot of attention but his route running looked really good and he got separation on a regular basis, threatening all levels of the field. I still don't like him as a 2nd round pick but he would be an excellent 3rd. Sort of reminds me of a better version of Chris Godwin. Would also be a nice fit with our play action scheme.

We usually take a lot of Senior Bowl players but rarely the ones who got the headlines at the SB, and this would make Wilson a nice target.

I like Wilson as well. It will be interesting to see where he goes in the draft, has such a wide range. I’ve seen as low as 5th round and as high as the 2nd

I'm saying 3rd round. I think 2nd round is a stretch, but he has nice athleticism and body control to be a good 2nd option. His skillset is still incomplete and he was lucky to face some poor competition at times, but he's a decent floor, decent ceiling guy imo.

I honestly was unimpressed with Wilson senior bowl week. I thought his routes were sloppy from day 1, he looked really thin and struggled to get guys off him. He couldnt create seperation especially when the DB had hands on him. Just seemed soft all week to me. Hes a day 3 pick for me....

Lots of raw but very talented WRs coming out this yr like jmon Moore that could really catch on. Unless there is a player we really like. Maybe go with all receivers in later rounds? I know he has his drama but I like Callaway. Yes he has drama but the Florida coaching staff stoutly defend him as a good smart kid that made young mistakes and a drama magnet although he means well. The staff say he is smart and will get himself together as he matures and learns.

Not happening. With Callaway.

SOURCES TELL US
"I just watched him. Really natural athlete and pretty good player but there are just too many headaches to deal with so I can't see us taking a chance on him. Our owner will say no and I don't even think we would put him on our board to be honest." -- AFC team pro personnel director

Sounds a lot like our FO tbh

Probably. Where did u find that?? But Biscuit better change his thinking up a little. Not like it’s domestic violence drama. Bisciotti saw all the empty seats for a game with playoff implications. Can’t keep selling a boring vanilla team with no offense. Then have continuity as your company line!! lol

I get what your saying but theres other talented recievers without the off feild issues. And Callaway doesnt seem like hes growing up anytime soon. Unless we get him as a tryout im not drafting

Daniel Jeremiah has just said dj moore is a top 40 pick. Would just like to point out i said we would have to take him in the first if we wanted him about a month ago.

I still can't see us taking a guy with so much inconsistency in the first round.

Not saying DJ has necessarily displayed first round talent, but what do you mean by "so much inconsistency"?
I can't remember specifically because I haven't watched him in about a month, but he was either a clap catcher or he let the ball get into his body too often. I think he was a clap catcher, but I can't specifically remember which one it was

I watch the Terps pretty much every week and can't recall him ever dropping a pass which is remarkable considering he played with 9 or 10 different QBs in 3 years. Also I don't think he missed a game in those 3 years. I'm having trouble grasping he could possibly be described as having "so much inconsistency".

To me, he has always had the look of a guy who will be productive in the nfl. Versatile, quick, good runner after the catch. Not sure I would offer for him at sixteen at this point. I can see someone grabbing him top ten round two though.

Forgive the cliched comp but he puts me in the mind of Boldin coming out.

I don't think that's an unfair comparison at all. While he's a couple of inches shorter than Q, DJ is built similarly and has the same style of play. He's aggressive, attacks the ball, consistently gets separation and is great after the catch. I hope we find a way to get him.

I watched them play Clemson this year and he had a heck of a game. There was one play even tho it got called back for holding where he dragged 3 men 5 yds into the endzone. Turned into a superbeast I swear. He just really reminds me of Boldin. Great vid btw and I also notic ed he wasn't even invited to the combine which is just crazy. Another receiver who I think is off the radar is Steven Dunbar from Houston.
