The WR Thread

Simmie Cobbs Jr is another one of those 6'4 guys in this class. Hes extremely talented from the looks of it. Just started watching his tape but so far im really impressed

I watched one game and 3 crucial easy passes bounced right off his hands. Haven't watched since
I think he plays surprisingly soft at the LOS and can't separate from press. He relies too much on his high pointing ability which won't work as much in the NFL.

I liked juju as our second, but I had bowser borderline first round talent kinda guy. I would've been ecstatic with either pick.

One thing I don't understand is that Ozzie just won't draft a wr who isn't fast. He isn't al Davis, but he definitely thinks speed is a prerequisite for NFL receivers. If juju was there in the THIRD I don't know if we would've taken him lol
If JuJu is there in the 3rd there is no way we would pass on him. Then again, we probably would have relied on him to be our #1 WR next season if he we took him anyways lol

i like james washington from Oklahoma state. Gets and yac and probably the best in the class at deep ball and ball tracking. I dont really see him run the whole route tree though so that might hurt him

The more I watch Ridley the more concerned I become that he might be gone before we pick. I really think that Alabama offense has hindered what he can truly show and I fear that execs and scouts will be aware of that. I think he's going to kill the combine and I don't see him flunking his Pro Day.

The more I watch of him the more I want him here.

Yep. We'll need proper losing record this year to get into the range where he goes. He is complete player.

Same. Once my Anthony miller hype died down a bit I turned to Ridley. He is by far the most explosive of the Alabama big time WRs, and may very well have the best hands. He doesn't have Julio size, he doesn't have Cooper savvy, but he only lags slightly behind that(aside from the size part) and makes up for it with incredible explosion, top end speed, more than enough savvy to get separation often and the soft hands to make all the routine catches and the tracking and control to make the moderately difficult ones. I'm trying to think of a solid comparison... if Derrick masons head and hands were on marqise lees body, you would get Calvin Ridley.

So, PFF has us taking James Washington with the 7th pick in R1 in their first mock.
1 Mayfield
2 James (!!!!!)
3 Barkley
4 Darnold
5 Jackson
6 Rosen

They are dreaming. Or under influence.

pff is traditionally really stubborn about production and their grading system in terms of projecting forwards - they dont convert those stats/grades into useful evaluations of actual nfl transferrable skills all the time - they get some right that the rest of the league miss on but they also stubbornly rank lower guys who obviously project well to the nfl

Pff mocks are probably the most funny things in the football world.

If Rosen goes 1 pick ahead of us I'm flipping a fucking table, the more drinks and plates on it the better.

I can't think of a comparison either, I honestly think that if he had Julio size he would be a slam dunk top 5 pick, then again you can say that about a lot of players, still he's honestly better by a considerable margin then last years receivers and I think that he's a high-floor/high-cieling player, I used to think that he was more of a high floor-mid ceiling player but after watching him more I realized that the sky is the limit for him. I really think he's going to be a star in the NFL.

His combination of explosive athleticism, chip-on-shoulder fiery competitiveness, savvy, and hands aren't seen often. That shit makes for a better wr prospect than any measurables can

Agreed, he's going to be a stud and I really do not care about his age, I honestly think he's crafted himself long enough to make a big impact on this team year one.

Man, hes everything us raven fans been wanting in a WR. Smooth route runner with strong reliable hands. With that said, ozzie will pass on him for james Washington. We need another WR who just run 9 routes.
