The WR Thread

U call that standing out?? Carl Lawson stood out as a rookie. Bowser showed up. Bowser will never be anything close to Lawson.

That sucks Deebo is returning to school. Waters down the receiver talent that is available
Lawson got enough reps without having excellent talent in front of him. Should bowser take reps from Judon or Suggs? He should've gotten reps over ZDS for sure but that's a typical harbaugh move not playing guys who aren't overly familiar, and when bowser played he looked much more impressive than ZDS, when he got his pressures he did it by beating tackles, Z got his by getting lucky with free runs and often whiffed entirely. So we have a top tier talent, a notch below a top tier talent, and a guy thoroughly entrenched as one of harbaughs golden boys ahead of bowser, but you want him to have the same impact as Lawson? Not gonna happen.

since were looking at the 16th pick(i think) and i doubt we would trade up, i would actually prefer a trade back. if quenton nelson goes before our pick, and assuming other high end talents are gone, i think mark andrews brings the biggest possible upgrade of any likely first round picks. as much as everyone here hates the idea of waiting to take a wr, i think this is a very mid-loaded wr class and a weak one at the top. i like courtland sutton, but im not taking him at 16. trade back for another second, take mark andrews, best 2nd round wr available, and god dammit maybe even another wr in the 2nd, or go andrews-wr-ol with a guy like rankin or wynn. hell if we could land dj moore in the third after having a 1 and 2 like that we would be looking good.

say we trade back to 24, then go mark andrews - cedrick wilson - isaiah wynn - dj moore if that would be possible. thats a goddamn haul.
That is way good of a trade for Ozzie to pull off. If we traded back to 24, we would probably get a 4th and a 5th imao (ik it’s unreasonable, Ozzie has never made a good pick for pick trade)

Also, no team would take that trade with us. Only a team that needed a q.v., but you wouldn’t trade behind Az
If Lamar Jackson is still on the board, I could see the Saints wanting to get ahead of the Bills and Chargers to get him. Maybe even the Bills trying to get ahead of the Chargers. There's always rumors of teams ready to move on from the old guard at QB, and Rivers is 36, and will continue to eat up larger chunks of their cap. Wouldn't be that shocking for a team to think there's a legit chance the Chargers go QB and want to get ahead of them.

Maybe 2010 when we traded out of the 1st with Denver so they could take Tebow
I completely forgot about both that and the year we drafted upshaw. Why do we even draft lb in the second round ever? It’s the new Wr in any round for us. Sergio kindle, upshaw, a.brown, k.c...

I'd be completely fine trading out of the first. And I would be excited actually.
I wouldn’t mind that considering how from picks 30-60 there is really no drop off, as many picks there as possible would be awesome. It really depends what we do in free agency imo. As in, if we grab Landry or Robinson, trade back and pick up a quality lineman, te, or Ilb. If we don’t grab a high wr in free agency, it would really upset me if we stayed put.

Nah, even if we don't get one in FA, there's no point in reaching for one. I'd be stocked with Ridley, Sutton or Kirk (even if Kirk would be a reach I wouldn't care one bit). But if we don't and get one of these and trade back, then get a Deon Cain or James Washington? I'd be equally excited.

I was just about to ask you what you thought about Deon Cain when I saw the response bubble, knowing he will be in that trade back range. I'm not too fond of James Washington, his hands are bleh and he reminds me of Stephen Hill a ton. I I think Cain would be great on this team, I enjoyed watching him in the Sugar Bowl. TBH if Ridley or Sutton were there at 16 I would take them, but I highly doubt that. The bears, 49ers, Raiders, Cardinals all have high odds of taking one. It really depends on how the board falls. I like our chances of getting an elite talent at 16. Allen, Rosen, Lamar, Sam, and Mayfield might all go top 15. If Roquan Smith, Quenton Nelson, or Ferrell are there, I find it hard to trade back.

If you didn't read me in the early part of the season, Cain was my number one (1A with Ridley being 1B) WR and my absolute favourite to watch. I now have him as number 4, because as much as I love watching him I can't get over the obvious lack of production to make him a definite first rounder. If we can get him after a trade back though that would be a hell of a pick. Cain is as well rounded as any receiver in college and he has some physical tools to pair with that. I believe he has all the traits to be a clear WR1 in the league with better QB play.

Washington isn't the flashiest guy but I think out of all the receivers out there he is the best fit for our offense. Everything we ask our receivers to do, he does it at a very high level, and he is way more physical and better at boxing out than people give him credit for. He can bail out his QB a ton.

Interesting that you bring up Ferell. I do like Ferell a lot but do we need another outside pass rusher instead of searching for a true interior rusher? I wonder, but Ferell certainly has the talent to make me pause. I also suggest you watch Marcus Davenport, he's a sleeper right now but I believe he will end up a first rounder.

When he gets as many reps as Lawson. He will never be as good as Lawson. Don't set yourself up for disappointment like with Correa Kufusi and Breshad the bust. I kept telling everybody Breshad was a bust. But nobody wanted to hear it. We heard all the classics as excuses. He missed his rookie season. Give him time to learn route running. He sucks!! Bowser could be an ok 4-3 olb, but never gonna be a game changer like Lawson is gonna be.

Going by your analysis, probably only Myles Garett and TJ Watt won't bust...

I was never a kaufusi fan lol. Also with both of the others I simply did my best to see the upside, I didn't like either pick when we made them. Dunno how many times I have to explain this to you, it was simply optimism.

Just started watching wide receivers.....after a couple games, not enough perhaps but I find Sutton disappointing after hearing of him being a first round wideout. Appears stiff and boxey in movement.....not particularly fast or quick...May have build up speed...Appears long in stride and underwhelming hands.

Anthony Miller is my favorite of the guys I've seen so far.
