Week 1 Discussion (It's Happening!)

The NFL is finally back - no preseason has made this offseason seem even longer than usual but it's now only 2 days until real-life, LIVE and meaningful football are back.

And it's a great game to open up on Thursday with the Texans going to Arrowhead to face the reigning superbowl champion chiefs - the 2 highest paid QBs in the league as of this offseason going at it against each other

It's not an eye-popping slate for the rest of week 1 but who cares, football's back

Brees vs Brady at 4:25 on Sunday could be interesting though

I’m pissed off at the nfl for not giving us our make up game from the 2013 kickoff. They should’ve sent KC to Baltimore as a “sorry for depriving you of the privilege every SB winner has had since fucking forever”

Thursday September 10th

Texans @ Chiefs: In a battle of newly paid Quarterbacks, Deshaun Watson leads the Texans into Arrowhead to take on Patrick Mahomes & The Chiefs. The Chiefs have managed to return 20 of the 22 starters from last year, ready to become the next NFL dynasty. The Texans come into this looking for revenge for their playoff loss last year and do so without star receiver DeAndre Hopkins who was traded to Arizona and replaced with Brandin Cooks, and Randall Cobb. Can KC pick up where they left off last season or does Houston have a surprise upset in the works?

Sunday September 13th:

Eagles @ Washington: A new era.... Jay Gruden is gone, Ron Rivera is in and a new exciting name... The Washington Football Team? Washington has spent the last few seasons building a massive defensive front that could rival the 49ers defensive line. Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Montez Sweat, Ryan Kerrigan and Rookie Chase Young look to take advantage of a banged up Eagles offensive line that has lost Brandon Brooks & Andre Dillard for the year. The Eagles have been hoping Wentz would return to 2017 form but he can't stay on the field. With offensive line issues already, could it be a long day for Carson Wentz and company?

Dolphins @ Patriots: Tom Brady has left the AFC East for the greener pastures of Tampa Bay. Belichick did what he always does, outsmart the rest of the NFL and got Cam Newton for a mere $1M. Cam will have Julian Edelman but faces the same issue that hurt Brady, lack of weapons. The Dolphins named Ryan Fitzpatrick their starter for the 2020 season, how many games that lasts will be the question. Will Brian Flores put Tua in at the end of the season if all hope is lost or is this just the second part of the tanking to get high picks in 2021 then start Tua when the team is more ready to compete?

Packers @ Vikings: If you have listened to sports media since the Draft, you would think the Packers & Aaron Rodgers are going through a messy divorce where one side is showing off their new lover while still in a relationship with their current lover. Green Bay heads to Minnesota to take on Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings as the battle for NFC North supremacy begins. The Vikings traded Stefon Diggs to Buffalo paving the way for Justin Jefferson next to Adam Theilen. Which team will get the leg up in the NFC North at the end of the week one?

Colts @ Jaguars: Philip Rivers relocated his whole family to Indianapolis for a fresh start and one last chance to win a Super Bowl. Rivers was a pick machine throwing 20 interceptions. With a better offensive line in Indy, he might be able to show he has something left in the tank. Speaking of Tank, "Not going to let that crap happen"... Gardner Minshew 2020. It's easy to discredit Minshew because of the presumed tanking but he had a 21 to 6 TD to interception ratio and threw for 3,271 yards last season. Worst case scenario they get Trevor Lawrence or best case scenario, Minshew Mania takes the NFL by storm and he builds upon last year and shows he is the future in Jacksonville.

Bears @ Lions: Matt Patricia is in a desperation year, make the playoffs or be fired. The Lions have regressed since hiring Matt Patricia, will he even make it through the season if things are bad early on? Matthew Stafford returns from injury to be the white knight that saves Patricia's job and takes them to new heights, the seventh seed. Da Bears are sticking with Mitchell Trubisky only because GM Ryan Pace keeps hoping Bears fans forget that he passed over both Deshaun Watson & Patrick Mahomes. Could Matt Nagy be another coach on the hot seat this year?

Raiders @ Panthers: Carolina begins a new adventure with Matt Rhule, Joe Brady & Teddy Bridgewater while the Jon Gruden experiment has relocated to Las Vegas. Raiders come out east for an inter-conference game as both teams are looking to make a splash this season. Can Teddy Bridgewater be a starting Quarterback in the NFL again? Is Derek Carr on his last legs as a Raider?

Jets @ Bills: Unless Cam Newton turns into Superman again, the AFC East is the Bills to lose. Sam Darnold is in a make or break year, Darnold needs to step up and show he is the franchise quarterback of the Jets. Of course there is the Adam Gase factor and it is more likely Sam Darnold leads a team to a Championship Game once Gase is no longer is his coach.

Seahawks @ Falcons: Matt Ryan is still kicking around at age 35 in Atlanta while Joe Flacco is a backup, crazy times. Atlanta looks to build off their momentum late in last year where they shutout the Saints, and upset the 49ers and come away with a huge week one win against Seattle. Seattle looks to overtake the 49ers for the division this year as they came so close... I mean very close to winning the division. Is Dan Quinn coaching for his job this season?

Chargers @ Bengals: We were deprived of Justin Herbert vs Joe Burrow on Sunday but Tyrod Taylor vs Joe Burrow will have to do. The Chargers have given much praise to Tyrod this offseason hoping that will lead to success early on. Joe Burrow has a good running game with Joe Mixon and hopefully a healthy AJ Green to throw touchdowns to this season. I think the Bengals will be sneaky playoff contenders as Burrow shows off his potential early on.

Cardinals @ 49ers: The reigning NFC Champions begin their season at home against a new look Cardinals offense that features DeAndre Hopkins. The 49ers look to get back to the Super Bowl led by their defense, and Jimmy G looks to prove doubters wrong that they should have replaced him with Tom Brady this season. The ageless one Larry Fitzgerald returns for another season as he keeps chasing Jerry Rice in the NFL record books. Isaiah Simmons will provide a boost for the Cardinals defense as second year QB Kyler Murray looks to take the next step toward becoming the Franchise QB of the Cardinals.

Buccaneers @ Saints: On paper, Tom Brady vs Drew Brees twice a year sounds fantastic. Though reality is while both are still good, we must enjoy this rare occasion as soon more young quarterbacks will overtake old regime. The Bucs come into this season with a lot of hype and are easily candidates for the team who will be the most disappointing or fail to live up to expectations. The Saints march into what could be Drew Brees' final year where they hope for one more shot at a Super Bowl. Unless of course the Vikings get in the way of that.... again. Look for this to be a very competitive game between two great offenses as the Tom Brady era begins in Tompa Bay, or Tampa B(r)a(d)y

Cowboys @ Rams: Sunday Night Football kicks off the new year in Los Angeles at the newly built SoFi Stadium as the Rams host the Dallas Cowboys. The Clapper is out, and in is returning Head Coach Mike McCarthy who looks to lead Dallas back to the postseason. Dak Prescott had a tremendous 2019 throwing for almost 5,000 yards and 30 TDs. With no long term deal, and the rising costs of QB contracts, has Dak played his final year in Dallas? We joked how if you saw Sean McVay you could get an interview for a coaching job, now it seems the magic has worn off. The Rams, who hate first round draft picks have been trying everything to win short term but have failed, and they need Jared Goff to return to 2018 form for them to have a chance in a now competitive NFC West.

Monday September 14th:

Steelers @ Giants: The Meadowlands will be the sight of the first Monday Night Football game of the year as the Giants host Big Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. New year, another team thinking hiring a Patriots coach will bring them the same success. Joe Judge is the latest in the line of New England coaches who will try to bring the Patriot Way with them and succeed. This all relies on Daniel Jones taking the next step going into his first full season as a starter, while Pittsburgh hopes Big Ben's shoulder is fully healed. With the defense the Steelers had last year, I fully expect TJ Watt and company to test out the Giants offensive line and rookie Andrew Thomas. If Ben is healthy and the defense doesn't lose a step, the Steelers will be back in the playoffs in 2020.

Titans @ Broncos: I just want to say to Derrick Henry, break a leg. No I mean really break a leg. The Titans managed to keep both Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry in the fold despite the talk they could only keep one. In his second season as Coach, Mike Vrabel upset the Patriots..... then made it to the AFC Championship Game. With Henry & Tannehill back in the mix, the Titans look to start their year off right in Denver. As young QBs begin to take over, Drew Lock is another who for John Elway's sake hopes to be THE ONE. Any other GM not named John Elway would have been fired for his poor drafting of quarterbacks, Drew Lock gets a shiny new toy in Jerry Jeudy, Bradley Chubb returns while losing Von Miller for the season. Denver looks to return to the postseason for the first time since 2015.

Probably because they blame Baltimore for it not happening, not the NFL.

So the NFL doesn't feel its obligated to do something the City wouldn't let them do.

Broncos WR Courtland Sutton went down with a shoulder injury in practice. Maybe the Broncos should just cancel practice before the whole team ends up hurt.

This will change come September 28th.... I hope Mahomes doesn't throw any interceptions before our game. Then we get to end that streak ourselves.

Chiefs are allowing a capacity of 22% which puts them about 17,000 fans or so allowed at the stadium.

Let's see how long it takes to knock the rust off since there was no preseason games to do that this year. Texans get the ball first. I'm fully expecting the Texans offense to fall off without Hopkins.
