certainly 4 weeks into his rookie year after a stilted offseason im definitely going to live with that

It seems like all of the rookie ILBs are struggling, and that's kind of okay considering the circumstances. I mean, Isaiah Simmons out there in Arizona looks like complete garbage so far. But I don't think it'll stay that way. It's just a tough position to come into without game reps and these guys are learning on the fly. It's the mental part of the game and that takes some time.

tbf its really only queen, murray and simmons who've played much so far - brooks has been injured, harrison has lost snaps week by week, phillips has been injured and got victimised by the ravens in week 1, troy dye's not played much but is about to start with anthony barr's injury

i havent paid any attention really to logan wilson or akeem davis-gaither for the bengals yet but i dont think they've been getting starter snaps but we'll see on sunday

willie gay's been doing better week by week - been earning a larger role game by game and looked really good against the ravens in week 3

no one's been particularly great from a consistency standpoint

I wouldn’t be shocked if Simmons didn’t turn out too good. I thought he was overrated af.

I thought he could be a very good robber type safety and I felt like his projections early on when he was considered a teens type of guy was accurate. by the time the draft rolled around he was being talked about as a potential 2nd overall pick and was considered a slam dunk LB and I didn’t agree with a lot of that shit

its the problem with all those swiss army college weapons - they can be physically gifted but their physical gifts allow them to dominate everywhere in college but the athletes are so much better in the NFL that the lack of specialism hurts them

i think linebacker is his NFL position but the mental processing will be the hardest thing for him to pick up

He’s got a very similar athletic profile to Derwin James, who imo is the best SS in the league when healthy, I don’t see why Simmons should be relegated to LB, he played everywhere in college but spent most of his career at SS, let him play there, slide him up in nickel and dime. I get that box safeties aren’t really a thing anymore but he’s also not a box safety, if he played safety he would be a weapon even in coverage.

I just hate seeing players forced into these hybrid roles as rookies because trends tell them to, the cardinals are fucking up their 7th overall pick lol
